Richard Jackson, former Farmers Branch Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Welcome to my page: Richard Jackson, former Farmers Branch City Council Member Let’s grow Farmers Branch together!

Born in Irving, my family first moved to the Carrollton-Farmers Branch area in 1982. In 2014, Jeanette and I made Farmers Branch our home for the same reasons many of you did- proximity, family-oriented, great city services, beautiful parks, and value. Farmers Branch's rapid growth is bringing a lot of change throughout our community. As we navigate growth, our community deserves bold, principled,

servant leadership that fairly represents the interests of all residents. City leadership should be 100% transparent, excellent stewards of your tax dollars while constantly improving the safety, services, amenities and beauty of Farmers Branch, AND you should feel welcomed to share your ideas and concerns with us. I bring many years of professional, charitable and community leadership experience:
—30 years in corporate financial/retirement services; 10+ years in management
—BBA Management, Northwood University (Summa Cum Laude)
—Former Chairman of the Board, Services of Hope Entities (nonprofit)
—Led the effort to rid Farmers Branch of bad actor short term rental properties
—Addressed transient activity threatening the safety of our LBJ/635 neighborhoods
—Served on the Mayor’s I35 Betterment task force

As your District 4 Councilmember, I will be accessible, keep you informed and make your voice heard.

There is something very wrong with our election environment right now. The democrats are playing very dirty- sending postcards to Farmers Branch residents making a non-partisan election all about partisan politics. The postcard 1) is blatantly advocating for a democrat win, 2) doesn’t contain a campaign disclosure, and 3) isn’t clear who the “owner” is. I’ve heard they are coming from outside of Farmers Branch. I would HIGHLY question why there is such a partisan interest from OUTSIDE of our city.

Please vote in this election and show that these unethical political games are not welcome in our city.

!!!VERY IMPORTANT READ!!!

The 89th Texas Legislature’s House and Ways Committee will consider a bill (HB134) TOMORROW March 17th to change the collection of sales tax from the origin of the business (corporate/home office) to the destination (where the transaction occurred (your home, their store, etc.). This is a huge change and has substantial material impact to Farmers Branch if passed.

Farmers Branch has forever been a business friendly community. We have over 4,000 corporate/home offices in Farmers Banch that pay approximately. 75% of what it costs to run our city. Changing the tax collection under HB134 threatens to take millions of sales tax revenue from our city. This would be devastating for our community.

PLEASE make your voice heard in opposition of this bill TODAY by clicking the link below.

The purpose of this form is to aid Texas residents in electronically submitting public comments to House committees on measures or matters included on public hearing notices.

To Farmers Branch Talk and its moderators Jennifer Jeter and Brian Smith:

Your reason for deleting my post conflicts with your own rules. Your rule #5 says I can post anything I like without fear of it being deleted, but rule #6 says no political BS or bullying. If people reacted to it with political statements, delete their responses, not the entire post.

Asking for prayers for our school leadership and community is not and was not political, nor was it “BS” or bullying.

The CFB – ISD school board has a very heavy and difficult decision to make tonight. There’s been a lot of controversy, fear and collaboration throughout the last few months. Whatever decision is made tonight will not make everyone happy. It’s inevitable that schools will close and students will have to go to a different school that may be further from their home. While, it’s not the end of the world, it will be an adjustment that some will find harder to make than others.

I ask all of my praying friends to pray for two things today: 1) pray for our school board leadership and their strength and clarity of mind in weighing their decision tonight, and 2) pray for unity, peace and comfort for our wonderful CFB – ISD community. Thank you.

Thank you to the CFB-ISD School board for all you do. I know- it’s often a thankless job but your leadership is invaluable to the thousands of students that pass through CFB every year and go on to pursue their dreams. Keep up the good work! As our winter weather moves out, I hope you stayed safe. Please remember those that were part of helping to keep you safe- our city crews/staff and first responders. These folks spent the last couple of days away from their families in the elements working long hours risking their own safety to ensure your family’s safety. If you see them out give them a wave, two thumbs up, toot your horn. Let them know you appreciate their service to our beautiful little city in a park.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

The Firehouse Theatre does it again. Got a rare break in my busy schedule to enjoy an event hosted by the awesome Farmers Branch City Hall Economic Development team. We saw Annie at the Farmers Branch Firehouse Theatre. Another amazing show. The talent, intimacy and experience are induplicable. If you haven’t seen a show at Firehouse, go! I am always amazed at how much bigger the show is than the stage. And those Chabot kids- WOW. What talent! Well done mom and dad! Lily (Christy Dimon) was fantastic, too! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!

Thank you to Bankhead Brewpub - Farmers Branch for providing the great food, drinks and cool pub-sphere tonight for our Farmers Branch City Hall Economic Development event. You know how I love hanging there. From herb chicken, fish and fried pickles to the beer flights and old fashioneds. WOW! Your staff is always warm and helpful. Thank you for choosing Farmers Branch!
