Press Release!!!!!!!

On 04-25-2026, around 7:00 p.m., Farmer City Police and the Dewitt County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to a residence in the 600 block of East Water Street for a trespassing complaint. The victim, a 79-year-old female, alerted a neighbor that a male unknown to her had entered the residence, refused to leave, and attempted to prevent her from leaving to seek help.

The female escaped the residence and alerted a neighbor who called the police. The officers arrived and located an intoxicated male still inside of the residence, where they took him into custody. The male was identified as Timothy Murphey, 65 years of age, Farmer City, IL 61842.

Murphey was transported to the Dewitt County Jail and is held on the following charges pending a pre-trial detention hearing: criminal trespass to residence, aggravated battery, disorderly conduct, unlawful restraint, and resisting a peace officer.

Please Note: All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

No further information will be released at this time.

Lost dog found roaming in town. Very happy and friendly with no collar. He'll be at FCPD for the time being and taken to Dewitt County Animal Control if we're unable to locate the owners! Please share!

We had orange triangle sign for a golf cart turned into the police department. It was found on Depo Road.

Found item!!!!

The department had a Samsung phone turned into the department. The phone was found in the 300 block of South Main Street. Note the phone is in very poor condition but we would like to get it back to the owner.

Has anyone lost this handsome fella?

Lost dog found roaming the east side of town by Summer St (Country Motors car lot area by Casey's). Very happy and friendly fella with a purple collar. He'll be at FCPD for the time being and taken to Dewitt County Animal Control if we're unable to locate the owners! Please share!

Public Service Announcement!!!

We have a group of 6 teenage males going door to door for Pavlov Media. They have a peddlers permit through the end of today 02-25-26

They have purple color work ids and should have a copy of their city permits with them.

Reminder that approval for a permit is not an endorsement for a product or service.

Please help this family find their missing pup!

His name is Bear and went missing yesterday afternoon in the inclement weather and has yet to be located. If located, please call FCPD at (309) 928-2111 or Facebook Messenger.

Bear was last seen north of 150 near the Farmer City Raceway.

Lost dogs found roaming the streets of Farmer City were brought to FCPD. Due to the extreme temps and future weather, they were taken to Dewitt County Animal Control for their safety. Please share!
