On 04-25-2026, around 7:00 p.m., Farmer City Police and the Dewitt County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to a residence in the 600 block of East Water Street for a trespassing complaint. The victim, a 79-year-old female, alerted a neighbor that a male unknown to her had entered the residence, refused to leave, and attempted to prevent her from leaving to seek help.
The female escaped the residence and alerted a neighbor who called the police. The officers arrived and located an intoxicated male still inside of the residence, where they took him into custody. The male was identified as Timothy Murphey, 65 years of age, Farmer City, IL 61842.
Murphey was transported to the Dewitt County Jail and is held on the following charges pending a pre-trial detention hearing: criminal trespass to residence, aggravated battery, disorderly conduct, unlawful restraint, and resisting a peace officer.
Please Note: All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
