Through Sept. 7: To promote safer choices and protect our communities, our office and nearly 300 other agencies across Minnesota are participating in a statewide extra enforcement and education campaign focused on eliminating impaired driving.

What to expect on the road
• Increased patrols: Expect higher law enforcement visibility on state highways and local roads through Labor Day weekend.
• Strict enforcement: Officers will be actively looking for signs of impairment. If you do not drive sober, you will be pulled over.

On Minnesota roads through July 2026 there have been
• 62 alcohol-related traffic fatalities
• 179 alcohol-related serious injuries
• 13,670 DWI arrests

A tremendous THANK YOU to the area businesses who sponsored the Fourth Annual First Responders for Charity Softball Tournament: Faribault Ace Hardware, State Bank of Faribault and Tony Langerud - State Farm Agent

Their support helped us not only raise about $1,500 for HOPE Center, advocates for victims of domestic and sexual violence, but bring the community together for a night of fun, and yes, some competition.

Each of our agencies understands the value HOPE Center and its staff bring to Rice County. Last year, it served more than 1,200 individuals from across the county.

NON-EMERGENCY PHONE SERVICE DISRUPTION: The Faribault Police Department has been made aware that there may be a brief, one-hour disruption to the Faribault Police Department’s non-emergency dispatch number (507-334-4305) from 5 - 6 p.m. today (Aug. 14).

During this time, if you need to reach the Faribault Police Department or if you need to speak to an officer, you’re asked to dial 911.

THEFT FROM VEHICLES: The Faribault Police Department is seeing an uptick in reports of theft from vehicles.

As a reminder, the best prevention is to always remove all valuable items from your vehicle. Additionally:

- When you park your car, take your keys with you and ensure your doors are locked.

- Never leave a running vehicle unattended.

- If you have a garage, use it. If you don’t, do your best to park your vehicle in a well-lit area.

As always, we’re here to help. If you have items stolen from your vehicle or believe it's been gone through, give us a call and we’ll have an officer meet you.

MEDIA RELEASE: On Thursday, Aug. 6, at 8:21 a.m., the Faribault Police Department, Faribault Fire Department, North Memorial Health Ambulance Service and the Minnesota State Patrol responded to a medical emergency in the gym at the Faribault Community Center, located at 15 W. Division St.

Prior to their arrival, Faribault Parks and Recreation staff began providing care to the patient, as is outlined in the facility’s operational guidelines.

Upon their arrival, patient care was turned over to the first responders, and the individual was transported by North Memorial to an awaiting helicopter at the Faribault Municipal Airport.

No additional details are available at this time.

The City of Faribault is grateful to its staff – both on site and to those who responded – for their quick, attentive care.

The Faribault Police Benefit Association (FPBA) has created a commemorative patch for this year’s Rice County First Responders Charity Softball Tournament to raise additional funds for HOPE Center, the county's advocacy center for victims of domestic and sexual violence.

The 4.25-inch patch is $10 and can be purchased in the Faribault Police Department Public Lobby during regular business hours, and on Aug. 18 in North Alexander Park during the softball games.

The annual First Responders Charity Softball Tournament features the Rice County Attorney’s and Sheriff’s offices, the City of Faribault Fire and Police departments, the City of Northfield Fire and Police departments, and the Department of Corrections – Faribault.

Play-in games start at 5:30 on Aug. 18, with the championship game to follow around 7 p.m. All games will be played on the fields nearest the concessions stands in North Alexander Park.
