BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND: In addition to the voluntary diseased tree removal program, the City of Faribault is also offering a new income-qualifying program in 2026 thanks to successfully obtaining a grant through the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources called the ReLeaf Program.

🌳The 2026 ReLeaf Grant program is available to income-qualifying homeowners to assist with the removal of dead and diseased trees, along with stumps.

📅 The deadline to apply for the ReLeaf program is Sept. 30, or until all grant funds are exhausted.

🌳If you are not eligible for the income qualified ReLeaf grant, you can have your trees removed under the Voluntary Diseased Tree Removal Program in which the City will pay for the upfront cost of the tree removal with a signed voluntary consent assessment agreement from the property owner.

📅 The deadline to apply for the Voluntary Diseased Tree Removal Program is July 15

The City of Faribault will be conducting a controlled burn today (June 4) at the Faribault Compost Site, behind the Wastewater Reclamation Facility.

If you see or smell smoke in the immediate area, there is no reason to be alarmed. Our Public Works staff is working closely with the Faribault Fire Department and has followed the controlled burn processes to obtain a permit.

This controlled burn will help the City remove the large number of emerald ash borer-infested trees, along with various brush items, that have been disposed of at the Compost Site.

While the City has traditionally paid to have some of its wood waste removed from the site, the cost to do so has grown exponentially over the years. Burning brush piles is an efficient and effective way to manage invasive plant material, diseased tree debris and debris from other natural resources management work.
