Two recent NDSU graduates are headed to the College National Finals Rodeo this weekend in Casper, Wyoming.

Megan Larson and Lathan Demontigny say NDSU helped prepare them through constant practice, coaching, hands-on learning and a supportive community.

“The people you meet, the opportunities you get, you can’t exchange these for anything,” Lathan said.

Abigail Banitt is currently an intern in our department! She is pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business Administration while also working toward a certificate in Business Analytics.

During her first few weeks as an intern, Abigail has researched the varying definitions of rurality and explored the challenges and implications that arise from differing interpretations. She has also expanded her understanding of agricultural technology and its relationship to rural economic development. Through this work, she has gained a new perspective on the world around her.

She encourages students who are passionate about helping others and solving complex problems to consider taking agribusiness courses. She is excited to continue learning and growing throughout her internship experience!

For nearly two decades, University Distinguished Professor Tom DeSutter has dedicated his career to helping North Dakota farmers, ranchers and landowners through practical, science-based soil research.

From restoring land impacted by energy development to improving the nutritional value of dry beans through zinc biofortification, DeSutter’s work is helping solve challenges that affect communities across North Dakota and around the world.

Just as important as the research itself is the next generation of scientists. Through hands-on learning opportunities, DeSutter mentors students and prepares them to make an impact in agriculture, natural resources and environmental stewardship.

The future of agriculture met one of NDSU's newest leaders last week during the North Dakota FFA State Convention.

NDSU President Marshall Stewart, who brings a strong agricultural background to the university, visited with FFA members while they were on campus for convention activities. And of course, Thundar stopped by to join the conversation!

We're always excited to welcome the next generation of agricultural leaders to campus.
