Today we were honored with a visit from Rebecca Bennett for Congress, accompanied by former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, survivor of a devastating assassination attempt in January 2011 and now a crusader against gun violence through her non-profit Giffords organization. They joined Fanwood Councilman Anthony Carter, Mayor Colleen Mahr, and Scotch Plains Mayor Josh Losardo in a roundtable discussion with several local business owners at Jessica's Restaurant in downtown Fanwood. Participants included Helen Ling, owner of Enchantments; Armen Saqe, owner of Jessica's; and Fabio's owners Greg Kowalczyk and Ronnie Vojka. Food costs were a major concern for the restaurant owners. The candidates also visited Mitul Patel, owner of Fanwood Pharmacy. Rebecca is running hard to defeat Tom Kean, Jr. in the 7th congressional district, and supports Anthony Carter and Mike Lowenthal in their campaign for Fanwood Borough Council.

Councilman Anthony Carter continues introducing himself to our citizens, though many have known him and his contributions to our town for years. Anthony is running for reelection and we hope you'll vote for him, along with Michael Lowenthal, a newcomer to our campaign. Mike, a Recreation Commissioner, is pictured here at one of the final planning meetings for the upcoming 5K Pizza Run, which he has helped plan for several years. Folks, get your mail ballots in, or plan on early voting beginning October 24th or we'll see you at the polls on November 3rd.

When we needed him the most to engage with us on the long stalled Green Brook flood control project, he showed up for a photo op, then disappeared for months while trading stocks to enrich himself.

We need a member of Congress who will show up and fight for the things we need and the partnerships our residents deserve at the federal level.

Tom Kean Jr. was quick to show up for a photo op with flood ravaged homes in our community, but then he disappeared and missed more than 100 votes, supported cuts to Medicaid and food assistance, increased deficits to give tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans, and backed Trump’s tariffs (and everything else the Trump administration has done to set this nation on fire), always bending the knee to his MAGA puppet masters.

He has done absolutely nothing to address the affordability crisis that Trump’s disastrous policies have set off in our country, or the very real local issues we have asked the federal government to help us with.

It’s time to FIRE Tom Kean Jr.! Vote Rebecca Bennett for Congress by November 3rd for the change CD-7 needs!
