Paving is anticipated to begin on Route 1 between Johnson Road and Skyview Drive, near the Friends School of Portland, on Wednesday, September 9. This work will require one-way alternating traffic, with flaggers and traffic-control measures in place. Some delays, reduced travel speeds, construction vehicles, and typical paving-related noise can be expected during this project. Work will continue through September 15, weather dependent.

The paving is a requirement of MaineDOT and is associated with Portland Veterinarian Emergency and Specialty Care (PVESC) off-site improvements and is not part of the Town of Falmouth’s annual paving plan.

🎒Back to school starts TODAY, Monday, August 31! ✏️🍎

Falmouth Maine Police Department reminds everyone to plan your commutes accordingly, allowing extra time for everyone's safety. Be patient, take your time, and keep our students safe!

Some things to keep in mind...

🚸Pedestrian and vehicle traffic will increase. Watch for kids walking, biking, getting dropped off, and waiting for or boarding buses.

🚌School buses will be stopping at driveways throughout Falmouth. Drivers traveling in either direction must stop for a school bus with its red lights flashing while it picks up or drops off passengers. Passing a stopped school bus is a criminal violation.

🏫There will be more traffic at and around the school. The corner of Falmouth and Woodville Roads will likely be congested between 7:00 and 8:30 am on school days. Falmouth Police will be monitoring this area for safe and efficient traffic flow.

🚧Note: MaineDOT construction on the Staples Point Bridge over the Presumpscot River on Middle Road will also cause delays for the morning and afternoon commute.
