Maryland has an open burning ban from June 1 to August 31 each year. This ban applies to most counties in the state, including Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Calvert, Carroll, Cecil, Charles, Frederick, Harford, Howard, Montgomery, Prince George's, and Baltimore City.

Exceptions include agricultural operations and open fires for recreational purposes, such as campfires and cooking. The use of propane grills is permitted during the burn ban.

If you are having a recreational fire, it is best practice to use an enclosed fire pit and keep a water source readily available.

Congratulations to our 2026 Fallston High School graduates. If you have been fortunate to know these young members of our community, then you know their dedication to service and community.

Fierfighter/EMT Brooke Bolesta and Firefighter /EMT Jenny Phillips both completed the Harford County Fire-EMS Cadet Program, which is a joint effort between HCPS and the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.

Brooke plans to continue her training in the career fire service, and Jenny plans to either continue in the career fire service or join the Marines to serve her country.

Congratulations on achieving this milestone. We are very proud of you.

Are you prepared for hurricane season?

Forecasters with NOAA’s National Weather Service are predicting a below-normal hurricane season for the Atlantic basin this year. NOAA’s outlook for the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season, which runs June 1 to November 30, predicts a 35% chance of a near-normal season, a 10% chance of an above-normal season, and a 55% chance of a below-normal season.
