Honoring Juneteenth in The Little City

Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865, when enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, finally learned that the Emancipation Proclamation had ended slavery—more than two years after it was issued. As the last community to receive the news, their liberation signaled the true end of slavery in the United States. Today, we honor freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of equality.
