On the evening of 7/12/2025 a Uniformed Traffic Stop was conducted by the Falkville Police Department’s K-9 Unit on I-65 that resulted in the arrest of a male subject in possession of illegal narcotics and a firearm.

During the stop, officers detected the odor of ma*****na coming from the vehicle. A probable caused search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a large quantity of Hydrocodone pills, Suboxone strips, a firearm, a bottle of synthetic urine, and a substantial amount of U.S. currency.

The driver, Jaylon McKenzie, from Talladega, AL, was found to be out on bond for prior illegal narcotics charges in Talladega, AL. Jaylon McKenzie was taken into custody on multiple drug and pending firearm-related charges. He was transported to Morgan County Jail and booked in on a $210,000 bond set by a Morgan County Circuit Judge. Additionally, there is a pending revocation warrant through Talladega County.

🚨 4th of July Arrest 🚨

While most people were getting ready to celebrate the holiday with family, one individual chose to run from our K-9 unit, and it didn’t end well.

After a short pursuit, the individual decided to stop and officers discovered the following during a probable cause search:

- A quantity of methamphetamine
- Multiple drug paraphernalia items including, baggies for sale and Glass smoking pipes.
- Over $6,000 in cash
- Two fi****ms

Benjamin Stinnett, Athens, was arrested and charged with:

- Possession with the intent to distribute
- Attempting to elude

A Morgan county circuit judge set Mr. Stinnett's bond at $12,000.00 dollars.

This arrest is another reminder that illegal activity doesn’t take a holiday, and neither do we.

Great work by our officers in getting dangerous drugs and weapons off the streets. We remain committed to protecting our community, day in and day out. Happy 4th of July!

*All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in the court of law*

🚨 Drug trafficking arrest with assistance from K9 Officer Nellie🐾

Last night officers with Falkville Police Department made a uniformed traffic stop on Interstate 65. During the probable cause stop, the K9 officer deployed K9 Nellie and shortly thereafter she alerted to her partner the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle. At that time a probable cause search was conducted of the vehicle and during that search a trafficking amount of Methamphetamine/Fentanyl mixture was discovered.

The individual attempted to hide the illegal narcotics in his glass of sweet tea. Scotty Barber was arrested and booked into the Morgan County Jail with a $10,000.00 bond, set by a Morgan County Circuit Judge.

We are extremely grateful for our officers and K9 Nellie. Their hard work and dedication to service continue to keep our streets safe for our community.
