Su***de prevention is a community effort. During Su***de Prevention Month, let’s remind our friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers that they are not alone—and that support is available.

Sometimes, a simple conversation can be the first step toward getting someone the help they need.

👂 Listening without judgment.

💬 Asking directly if they are thinking about su***de.

❤️ Letting them know you care and are there to support them.

🔗 Helping connect them with professional or community resources.

You don't need to have all the answers. Being present, listening, and helping someone connect with support can make a difference.

👏 Congratulations to the Chautauqua County Office of Probation!

The department has earned a Certificate of Commendation from the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services in recognition of its professionalism, accountability and commitment to public safety.

The recognition follows the department’s achievement of a 99% DNA collection rate among individuals sentenced to probation supervision during 2025.

Thank you to Director Gilbert Taylor and the entire Probation team for their continued dedication to accountability, effective community supervision and safer outcomes for our community. 👏

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the courage and sacrifice of the first responders, service members, and countless individuals who answered the call in the days, months, and years that followed.

❤️ We remember the nearly 3,000 lives taken that day.
🤍 We remember the families and loved ones forever changed.
💙 We remember the bravery of those who ran toward danger to help others.

🇺🇸 And we recognize all those who continue to carry the lasting impacts of September 11.

Twenty-five years later, we remain united in remembrance. ❤️🤍💙

May we never forget those we lost, the heroes who served, and the strength and compassion shown in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

🇺🇸 25 years later, we remember.

Today, Chautauqua County joins communities across the nation in remembering the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001.

Among them was Amy King, a West Ellicott native and United Airlines flight attendant who was killed aboard Flight 175. Twenty-five years later, her story and the stories of so many others continue to be remembered here at home.

We also honor the first responders, military members, survivors and countless others whose lives were forever changed by September 11.

May we continue to remember not only the events of that day, but the people behind the names — their families, their friendships, their communities and the lives they lived.

Please join us at noon today on the front steps of the Chautauqua County Courthouse in Mayville for our 25th Anniversary 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony.

May we never forget. 🇺🇸
