Busy week for Parks and Trails News!

Chautauqua County has had a lot of success in recent years in getting grant funds to help improve trails. Those grant-funded improvements are paying off as more people are making their way onto the county's trail system.

We will host an out and back hike on the Eastside Overland Trail for CHQ Trails day next Saturday, June 20th at 1pm. We will meet at the parking area in the corner of Gerry-Ellington and Harris Hill Roads and hike south from there. We hope to see you! If you cannot join us, consider one of the other terrific events scheduled for that day.

A variety of outdoor events are planned as part of the 2026 CHQ Trails Day on Saturday, June 20 across Chautauqua County, NY.

A slice of heaven.....on the Fred J. Cusimano Overland Trail.....

About one year ago, we opened the newly renovated restrooms at Luensman Overview Park. In the time since, the restrooms have been subject to nearly constant vandalism, theft, and damage, as well as being left in unsanitary conditions. Going forward, we will not be providing open restrooms for the general public. The restrooms will remain locked. We will be making accommodations for the use of the restrooms for those who reserve the pavilion. We are saddened it has come to this, but we are left no choice. As so often is the case, it is unfortunate that the actions of a few, ruin it for so many others. Our thanks go out to all who use the park responsibly, we hope you continue to enjoy all the park has to offer!
