In partnership with The Justice Bell Foundation, the Fairview Area Historical Society is excited to host their educational traveling exhibit.

Our program with Lori Morse-Dolan and Author Amanda Owen will be October 21, 2026 from 6:30p -8:00p.

Exhibit Open Hours will be on October 18th and 25th from 11:00a to 3:00p at the Sturgeon House in Fairview.

"A Century of Fairview Football"

In 1926, a group of boys attending Fairview’s Union School (Where the Fairview Post Office is now) formed an “athletic club”.

Led by President John Pfeffer, Vice President Clifford Hetz, and Secretary/Treasurer Lawrence Hauck, the boys gathered a few weeks after school started. It was noted in the student newspaper, The Community News, (October 7, 1926) that the boys had recently been "playing around with a football."

Later that year the Boys Athletic Club played two football games. Both games were against Girard. Girard football began in 1903. The boys lost both games 25-0 and 18-0.

These were inauspicious beginnings, for Fairview lost the next eight matches with Girard. Their first win against Girard would need to wait for ten years, finally coming in 1936 with a 41-0 win.

Their first program win came in 1928 with a 25-0 win against West Millcreek, they finished the ‘28 season with a 1-7-1 record.

Over the last one hundred years, Fairview Football teams have amassed an overall record 550 wins, 329 losses, and 26 ties.

During the month of September 2026, the Fairview Area Historical Society is hosting “A Century of Fairview Football”.

This hands-on exhibit includes stats, photos, game film, player highlights, and artifacts from 100 years of competition.

There’s more than football going on at games - cheer and marching band items are included in the exhibit.
