We're proud to recognize the dedication of Zach Siena, a volunteer firefighter with the Egypt Fire Department who stepped up to serve his community in September 2023, inspired by a lifelong example of helping others 🚒

Since joining, Zach has already made a strong impact:
• Completed Firefighter I, the foundational training for all firefighters
• Serves on multiple department committees, helping strengthen operations and teamwork
• Commits to weekly training and ongoing courses to stay prepared and build confidence
• Connects with residents at community events like Open House, Truck or Treat, the Easter Egg Hunt, and more

Balancing work, family, and service isn’t always easy, but Zach credits the department’s “family first” mindset, and a strong support system at home, for helping him succeed. For him, the firehouse is more than a place to serve, it’s a close knit team working toward a shared purpose. Zach’s passion for the fire service continues to grow with every call and training opportunity he takes on. He values the opportunity to learn from experienced members while contributing his own energy and dedication to the team. Whether responding to emergencies or supporting community events, he takes pride in representing a department built on trust, teamwork, and service.

His advice for anyone considering volunteering: visit your local firehouse, meet the members, and see what it’s all about. “You don’t know what you’re capable of until you give it a try.”

The 25th Annual Fishing Derby was a great success at Perinton Park this morning. 🎣🌞🐟

Youth anglers lined the Erie Canal and enjoyed a beautiful start to the day while competing in this long-standing community tradition.

Cooper Witt caught the largest fish of the day with a 26” walleye. In the 11–15 age group, Charlotte landed 5 fish totaling 27”. In the 6–10 age group, Kelsey Acker caught 2 fish totaling 18.5”, and Henry Nordhaus took first place in the casting competition with a score of 2.

The event is presented by the Town of Perinton and proudly sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Bishop McQuaid Council 7085.

Congratulations to all participants and thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s derby another memorable one!

Last night the Perinton Amphitheater turned into a full-on soundscape, and the crowd felt every note. 🎶

Tash Sultana took the stage and delivered a captivating set, layering guitar, keys, loops, and vocals into a performance that built and shifted in real time. Each song pulled the audience deeper, showcasing the kind of artistry that makes live music so powerful. From quiet, atmospheric moments to high-energy grooves, it was a set that kept everyone locked in from start to finish. 🎸

Daisy the Great kicked off the evening with a vibrant opening performance, bringing catchy melodies and harmonies that set the tone for the night and got the crowd ready for what was ahead.

Thank you to Rochester Events for another great night of live music in Perinton, and to everyone who came out, sang along, and filled the amphitheater with energy. 🌟

🎟️ Additional concerts are still to come this season. Visit Rochester Events for tickets and event information: https://rochesterevents.com/perinton-amphitheater

🪿 Have you noticed more Canada geese and goslings crossing roads, parks, and neighborhoods lately?

Spectrum News 1 Rochester recently highlighted what many residents are seeing this time of year - goose crossing season is in full swing! Goslings won't be able to fly for several more weeks, which means families of geese are often traveling on foot between nesting areas, ponds, and open spaces.

Thank you to Perinton Animal Control Officer Cristopher Ruiz, who shared his expertise to help educate residents about safely coexisting with wildlife in our community. As Cris noted, geese are federally protected, and this is one of the busiest times of year for goose activity.

If you encounter geese crossing the road:
🚗 Slow down
📵 Stay alert and avoid distractions
🪿 Give them space
⏳ Be patient - they'll get where they're going

Thank you, Cris, for helping keep both residents and wildlife safe!
