Education about the ramifications of "flushable, biodegradable wipes" is more prevalent than ever these days. While the issues associated with wipes are not new, they are increasing exponentially thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Wipes DO NOT degrade as toilet paper does. As toilet paper dissolves and does not disrupt flow, wipes DO NOT dissolve and only continue to accumulate in the collections system.
Wastewater collections and treatment facilities around the globe are seeing an increase in flow due to many of our population being home bound. Along with this increase, flow systems are experiencing an increase in sewer main backups and clogged pumps.
Wipes DO NOT degrade as toilet paper does. As toilet paper dissolves and does not disrupt flow, wipes DO NOT dissolve and only continue to accumulate in the collections system. Not only will this be a problem for a system, it can also become a problem for the user as well.
Increasing the flushing of wipes increases the possibility of backing up the user’s sewer lateral, and trust me, the last thing anyone wants is raw sewage backing up into their home. Not only is this an "eww factor," but it will warrant an expensive bill to have a plumber come out to clear the plug. The abundance of plugged pumps and lines add to the workload of municipalities’ already diminished staff. This in turn leads to additional manhours, higher maintenance costs, longer wait times for emergency call outs, etc.
I cannot reiterate this enough: please
DO NOT flush anything other than toilet paper for personal hygiene (This includes feminine products)
