Rural communities are built on neighbors supporting neighbors. When things feel overwhelming, talking to a friend, neighbor, or family member can help.

If someone crosses your mind today, send them a message or stop by for a quick check-in. You never know when it might make a difference.

Growing up isn’t easy, and many teens feel overwhelmed by school, friends, and future worries. But they don’t have to handle it alone.
Parents and caregivers: check in, ask how they’re really doing, and keep the door open for honest conversations. Your support helps them feel seen, heard, and valued.

Big Changes are coming to Medical Assistance. On July 4, 2025 the Federal Reconciliation Bill (H.R.1) was signed into law. This law brings major changes to Medicaid (Medical Assistance).

Most Medical Assistance enrollees will not be impacted if they:
- Get coverage based on a disability
- Are 65 or older
- Are 20 or younger
- Are pregnant

Nothing has changed yet. The first changes won’t take effect until fall 2026

May is National Bike Safety Month!
FMCHS celebrated by supporting multiple bike safety events, including two bike rodeos!
We loved helping local kids build confidence, learn safe riding skills, and have fun on their bikes. A huge thank‑you to our partners, volunteers, and all the students who joined us!
Let’s keep promoting safe, healthy, active communities, one ride at a time.

As you’re introducing allergenic foods (like nut butters, eggs, and dairy), it’s important to watch for any signs your infant is having an allergic reaction. If that happens, stop feeding the food and consult your health care provider for next steps.

Around here we say, “I’m fine” the same way we say, “Cold enough for ya?” It’s just what we do. But stress can build up over time, and sometimes “I’m fine” carries a little extra weight.

Talking about the stresses of farm life can help when things get overwhelming. So, when someone says, “I’m fine,” maybe ask again. It’s fine to not be “fine.”

Our minds work hard every day—learning, focusing, solving problems, and helping us make sense of the world. Cognitive health supports how we think, remember, and handle challenges, especially during stressful times.
This Mental Health Awareness Month, let’s celebrate the power of a clear and flexible mind. When we care for our thinking patterns, we make space for better decisions, stronger emotions, and a healthier mind‑body connection.

Stronger Together - Faribault & Martin Counties had a great time at the Blue Earth Area School’s Carnival on May 20!

Kaley and Jordan connected with families through conversations, hands‑on activities and fun games (shout‑out to all the kids who beat Jordan at Connect Four). Families walked away with helpful tips on healthy eating and taking care of their mental well-being.

A big thank‑you to Blue Earth Area Schools for inviting us to be part of the day and for helping to support a healthier community!

Healthy hearing matters at every age! Early detection of hearing loss helps kids stay safe, connected, and ready to learn.

When a baby is born with hearing loss, families may feel worried or unsure about what to do next. Our public health nurses are here to help - listening, guiding, and connecting families to services and support programs.

Bringing a child into the world is a moment of profound joy and anticipation for families.
