Over the month of August the Volunteers at Valley VFD responded to 28 separate vehicles accidents. These accidents occurred on Interstate-79, Pleasant Valley Road, Whitehall Blvd and Heston's Farm development. Along with 18 automatic fire alarms, a transfer to Taylor County to assist with a structure fire, a vehicle fire in the Benton's Ferry community and securing a "Landing Zone" For Healthnet at the Middletown Commons.. 🚁

Tower-12, Engines 122, 124 and 125 all completed and passed their annual pump testing... A State requirement to keep our firehouse certified.

As it continues to storm through the next couple days we want to remind the public to slow down in the rain, have your headlights on and keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you.. Also keep an eye out for wildlife (DEER) 🦌 as we have had 2 deer vs vehicle accidents on I-79 in the past week...

Kitten rescued from inside an interior wall 🐈

Yesterday August 25 around 8:35pm, Volunteers at Valley VFD were alerted for an animal rescue in the Kingmont area of the City of Pleasant Valley.

Deputy Chief-12 in Utility-127 responded along with SQ-12 and Engine-122. Caller reported a stray kitten had been heard meowing inside the wall of this residence and able to retrieve it. Firefighters arrived to find that a small kitten had made its way to the back porch and climbed ontop the exterior block wall, then falling down inside between the exterior and interior wall approximately 10-12' down.

Firefighters used several different carpentry tools to make an access hole near the kitten. A basic dish towel was also used to reach the kitten in which it then clawed its self to the towel and was retrieved at the access hole. Approximately 15-20 minutes the cat was rescued.

Valley Volunteer Fire Department now has a black and white (Dalmatian Colored) firehouse cat that is safe and healthy after a veterinarian checkup named Little Debbie!

Over the past 10 days the Volunteers at Valley VFD responded to 11 separate vehicle accidents, a tree down with power lines off Colfax Road, numerous fire alarms with 2 being at Wal-Mart in Whitehall and responded to Grafton Fire Department Grafton Wv for a structure fire.

Squad-12 Engines 122 and 124 all assisted with handling the calls..

A busy morning for the Volunteers at Valley VFD answering 4 separate vehicle accidents with possible injuries along Interstate-79 this morning!! All within 40 minutes... Utility-127 SQ-12 Engines 122 and 124 along with Tower-12. Thanks to Monongah Fire Dept. in E-101 for their assistance...

August 2nd at 2:40am Volunteers at Valley VFD were alerted for a vehicle accident on Interstate-79 Southbound near the 133 mile marker with entrapment. iPhone crash notification along with reports from a passenger that there car had went over an embankment.

Utility-127 responded along with Squad-12 and Engines 122 and 124. Reports that the driver is unconscious and the passengers were still inside the vehicle. Deputy Chief-12 in Utility-127 arrived at the entrance to the 133mm Kingmont off ramp exit to find a single vehicle through the guardrail and down the embankment approximately 70' in a deep wooden area. Off ramp would be closed. Both the driver and passengers had managed to escape from the vehicle. Marion County Rescue Squad would provide its assessment of all 3 patients. No injuries were reported. Firefighters would assist Hawkins Towing with recovery of the vehicle.

Valley VFD woukd operate on this incident for approximately 3.5 hours before returning to service..

This morning at 4:35am the Volunteers with Valley VFD were alerted for automatic mutual aid with Monongah Fire Dept. for a possible commercial structure fire at the Pierpont Center off Country Club Road. Tower-12 and Engine-124 responded.

Reports of smoke in the building from a light fixture that had caught fire. Command-10 in Engine-102 arrived to find lite smoke in the building. Ventilation fans were used to remove existing smoke from the structure. No extensions of fire were found. No injuries were reported and Company-12 was placed back in service within a half hour.

Volunteers with Valley VFD are currently assisting Weston Vol. Fire Department with traffic control on Route 33 due to the extreme flooding on Route 33 at the Wal-Mart and many water rescues!! 6 members along many other Marion County First responders are out assisting others!

This morning the Volunteers at Valley VFD were alerted to assist Town of White Hall, WV Police Department with a search detail of the missing Mark Cunningham.. A Silver Alert had been issued..

This evening around 5:20pm the missing gentleman was found in a wooden area along a creek bank alive and responsive.

This detail which was 100% a rescue was nothing short of a miracle and absolutely DEDICATION and TEAMWORK from all involved. Members of Whitehall Police Department along with Volunteers at Valley VFD were able to locate and rescue Mr. Cunningham and bring him to safety to be checked out by Marion County Rescue Squad and transported for further evaluation. We are grateful for the positive outcome of this!

Great Work to the Whitehall PD for the communication and logistics!

Many Many other great people and departments also assisted in the search!!! Marion County Sheriffs Deputies, Monongah VFD Winfield Dist. VFD Boothsville VFD. SAR K9 Unit, Marion County Homeland Security, Marion County Rescue Squad!!

We was also informed that tomorrow is Mr. Cunningham 67th Birthday! Happy Early Birthday kind sir! 🎂 🙏
