Fairmont City Council will meeting this evening at 7pm for its regularly scheduled meeting.

Here is a link to the agenda packet for tonight’s Fairmont City Council Meeting: https://www.fairmontwv.gov/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_06232026-919

The meeting will also be livestreamed as usual on our YouTube page.

Tonight’s agenda has several items of business for City Council to consider:

1. First is a public hearing and subsequent vote on an ordinance correcting an error in the name of a partner organization.
2. Second is an introduction and first reading for the complete repeal and replacement of the City’s sign code, which governs the types of signs businesses in City Limits can have. Council had a work session going through the details of these changes last week. That archived livestream can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwN1nCJcpPw
3. Next is another first reading and introduction regarding the purchase of real estate through the state tax sale. The full list of parcels is available in the agenda packet. These parcels are being purchased to remove blight and dilapidated structures.
4. Another first reading and introduction regarding an amendment to the City’s voting districts to include households along Carriage Drive that were recently annexed into the City’s corporate limits.
5. A resolution to award opioid settlement funds to the Fairmont-Morgantown Housing Authority in the amount of $50,000.

City Manager Travis L Blosser was glad to tag along with Fairmont State University President Mike Davis to discuss the future development along Locust Avenue, the exciting plans being put together, and some of the challenges that we still have to overcome.

The relationship between Fairmont State and the City has never been stronger, and this conversation is a great example of how our two organizations can work together to benefit the entire community.

Check out Fairmont State's original post below for a clip of the video and links to watch the entire recording!

AUGUST 4TH, 2026, AT EAST MARION PARK! The City of Fairmont and the Fairmont Police Department will once again be putting on a National Night Out celebration!

In preparation for the big day, we're looking for organizations or businesses interested in being vendors for our event. This is a free community event, so this is NOT an opportunity to sell merchandise, but if you have information or swag to give away, we'd love to save you a table!

If you're interested in applying to be a vendor, click here: https://www.fairmontwv.gov/513/National-Night-Out

We're also looking for sponsors to help offset some of the costs and make this event even bigger! Info about that can be found at the same link.

We hope you'll join us for the 2026 National Night Out!
