June 10 - Rail Trail / Bike Path will be temporarily closed for paving. Sections of the path will be closed starting at the Mattapoisett town line and continuing towards Arsene Street. Path will reopen once the asphalt cools enough to touch, depending on today's temperature.

Paving will take place tomorrow June 11 as well, continuing from Aresene to Adams Street and will be doing the Little Bay Extension path as well, duration and limits subject to actual production rates and we will advise accordingly.

We want to share an important update with the community regarding the upcoming Town-wide override vote on June 9th.

Due to the Town’s budget deficit, several cuts have been proposed within the municipal budget. One of those proposed cuts is Discover Fairhaven — the Town’s Tourism, Community & Economic Development Department.

At this time, no final decision has been made, and all programming and events are continuing as planned while we await the outcome of the June vote.

If the override passes, the department will continue operating and the remainder of the 2026 event season will proceed as scheduled.

If the override does not pass, the department would be eliminated effective July 1st. In that event, the following Town-run events would unfortunately be canceled:

• Food Truck Flavor Fest — July 25
• Swords & Sails: A Medieval Faire — September 19
• Olde-Tyme Holiday (Town Hall programming only) — December 12

In addition, the department would cease coordination support for community groups, economic development initiatives (including grant submissions), operation of the Discover Fairhaven website and community calendar, development of wedding destination initiatives and promotional packages, and film production development efforts within Fairhaven.

We want to sincerely thank the many residents, volunteers, local businesses, artists, vendors, performers, and visitors who have supported these events and initiatives over the past year. Together, these programs welcomed thousands of attendees to Fairhaven and created meaningful community and economic activity throughout town.

We will continue planning for the season as scheduled and will keep the community informed as updates become available.
