Meet Joshua, a 22-year-old job seeker on the autism spectrum who is turning his career goals into reality with support from the Workforce Development Board of Solano County. 🚀👏
Joshua has limited verbal communication and typically communicates using a few spoken words or in specific situations. But that has never stopped him from pursuing meaningful employment or working toward his goal of building a career in an office setting.
Over the past year, Joshua worked closely with Disabilities Resource Specialist Rachelle A. Franko to develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed in the workplace.
Through individualized coaching and a customized employment plan, Joshua strengthened his skills in Microsoft Office, data entry, email communication, scanning, copying, and filing, and earned CPD Office Administration certificates.
Recognizing Joshua’s potential, Rachelle partnered with Business Services Consultant Vankeesha Frank and Deborah Davis, CEO of Special Care Services, to create a customized Transitional Work Experience aligned with both Joshua’s career goals and the organization’s operational needs.
Joshua has been working as a File Clerk with Special Care Services for more than a month, and he’s thriving in his role! He’s putting his skills to work, gaining valuable experience, and continuing to build confidence in the workplace. 👏
