💕Happy Tails💕
On January 14th, 2026, Solano County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control responded to a call for a small, white Chihuahua puppy with a facial injury. The puppy had been left in the middle of a baseball field and was shaking and terrified. Some Good Samaritans had already scooped up the puppy in a warm blanket to get him out of the cold January weather. Animal Control Officers responded and secured the pup. It appeared that there was something wrapped tightly around the mouth and had caused severe wounds to his snout. Unfortunately, we had no leads on who might have done this horrible act to this innocent soul.
One of our amazing vets, Dr. Anne, at the shelter took the sweet boy home for foster, so he could have a quiet place to rest and recover. Due to the binding and lack of circulation of the snout, the wounds needed time to heal. The puppy was resilient and had to undergo a facial reconstruction, but his scars tell a story of a survivor. After a month of recovery, Dr. Anne found a perfect home with her family member all the way in Massachusetts! The wonderful adopter and former airline pilot saw the pup’s ears (that have a personality all on their own!) and couldn’t help herself when she named him “Radar.”
Radar is on to happier phases of his life and is spoiled by his sweet family in Massachusetts who completely adore him! Sometimes these rescues really do take a village! Thank you to the Good Samaritans who cared, the animal control officers involved, kennel staff that cared for him, and the wonderful vet staff who went above and beyond. Last, but not least, thank you to the lovely adopter who traveled across the country to save this boy! Happy Tails, Radar! ✈️🩵
