Hello TEAM TRAVIS!!!!!

Spooky season is officially upon us, and we LOVE seeing all the haunted houses and Halloween festivities popping up across the installation!

However, we’ve noticed quite a few haunted houses being advertised that haven’t made their way through the Fire Prevention Office yet.

We promise, we’re not trying to be the FUN POLICE! We’re all for jump scares, creepy decorations, and a good haunted house. What we’re NOT fans of are blocked exits, fire hazards, and emergency situations that are a little too scary.

Friendly reminder to all organizations hosting haunted houses or similar attractions:

Before opening your doors to the community, please coordinate with the Travis AFB Fire Prevention Office to ensure your event has received the appropriate fire and life safety review and approval.

Our team will help evaluate things like:

🚪 Emergency exits and evacuation routes
🌫️ Fog machines and special effects
🔥 Decorations, electrical equipment, and potential fire hazards
🚨 Fire alarms, sprinklers, and other life safety considerations
👥 Occupant loads and crowd safety

Already advertising your event but haven’t coordinated with us? No worries! Reach out to the Fire Prevention Office as soon as possible so we can help you get on the right track.

Our goal isn’t to cancel the fun. It’s to make sure everyone gets to enjoy the scares and makes it home safely!

🎃🕸️You bring the BOO, we’ll help with the safety!

🚒👻 Happy Haunting!

🚨 🔥 Fire Prevention Week is in FULL EFFECT! 🔥 🚨Travis Fire and Emergency Services, we are geared up and ready to spread the word on fire safety! 🚒💨
This week is all about keeping our community, our families, and our base safe. Today, we’re focusing on something we all use every single day: Lithium-Ion Batteries. From smartphones and laptops to e-bikes and power tools, these batteries are incredibly useful, but they require proper care to prevent serious fire hazards.
✅ Lithium-Ion Battery Safety Checklist:
* Charge Smart: Always use the manufacturer's approved charger and cord. Never leave devices charging unattended or resting on soft surfaces like beds or couches where they can overheat.
* Keep It Cool: Store your devices and batteries at room temperature. Avoid leaving them in hot vehicles or direct sunlight, as extreme heat can lead to thermal runaway.
* Inspect for Damage: Regularly check your batteries for swelling, unusual odors, strange noises, or excessive heat. If a battery looks or acts damaged, stop using it immediately!
* Dispose Properly: NEVER throw lithium-ion batteries in your regular household trash or recycling bins. They must be taken to an approved hazardous waste or battery recycling drop-off center to prevent dangerous fires.
If you see our crews out and about on base this week, come say hi! We’re always here to help and happy to answer your fire safety questions.
Stay safe, Team Travis! 🇺🇸✈️
