I'm so sorry ladies that I haven't been able to schedule any classes. I lost my father January 1st and our dog a week and a half later and now with COVID-19 going on, I will have to wait and see what happens. This program means a lot to me and I'm looking forward to being able to have more classes. Keep safe, take this seriously and wash those hands.

THIS is so important to watch, share and watch again. Watch it with your children. It's never TOO early to sit down with your children and talk to them about the dangers out there. Make your children aware and make sure they feel like they can come and talk to you about anything without repercussions. These predators are EVERYWHERE and with our fast paced World, us as parents, sometimes get too caught up and miss the signs of something that may be wrong.

Check their phones, check their lap-tops, their apps and social media accounts. Do your research! There are apps out there made to look like one thing, while your child is hiding another. Make it clear to them what is appropriate and what isn't. Talk to them about the fact of who they think they are talking to on the other end of the phone or computer, may not be the person they say.

Make sure they know the dangers of even sending a "selfie" of just their face can open up many doors that can't be closed. These predators know how to track locations and get these children to reveal things about themselves and the children don't even realize they are doing it.

Be vigilant, be persistent and be the parent that knows what is going on in their children's lives. It is a very scary World out there.

These are the types of incidents we discuss in my classes. It doesn't have to be in a dark alley, in the middle of the night, in some bad neighborhood. This happened at 8:30 in the MORNING at a Walmart!! Take one of my classes, be more aware and be more prepared with RAD Self Defense

Helpful hint:

I know people like to share their vacation photos and I love seeing all the warm, tropical places you get to go to but please post those beautiful pictures AFTER you return. Advertising that you're about to go on vacation or posting them while you're there, just let's people know that your house is unoccupied......

Have trusted people check on your house while you're away. Stop mail and paper deliveries and make sure you're still getting plowed/shoveled out. House alarms are great and even lights on timers help deter people from knowing no one is home.

Some local police departments, including ours, offer a premise check of your residence while you're away.

Enjoy your vacation and be safe 🌞

HERE WE GO!!! Finally have a class booked for the end of the month. The 12 hour class will be held at the KVCC Campus on Western Ave on the following dates and times....

Tuesday, October 22, 2019 from 5:30pm-8:30pm
Wednesday, October 23, 2019 from 5:30pm-8:30pm
Tuesday, October 29, 2019 from 5:30pm-8:30pm
Wednesday, October 30, 2019 from 5:30-8:30pm

The first night will be the classroom portion of the class where we will cover the manual and talk about being more aware of our surroundings and more alert to the dangers around us. Nights #2 and #3 will consist of going over the hands-on techniques that could potentially save your life and the final night is where you will put your new learned skills to the test and be put through three different scenarios and "fight" one of our aggressors.

This truly is a GREAT class! We have lots of fun, all while learning some great new information, skills and techniques that can help keep you safe. Please pre-register by emailing me at [email protected]. I will be ONLY taking a total of 15 students. The cost of the class is $35 per person and once paid, gives you a lifetime membership to come back to any class, any time for FREE!!! I hope to see you there!

SAFETY TIP....

So the other night I went for a run on my road and for some reason I became very conscientious of how much I actually do and re-do certain things. A lot of it has to do with being a police officer and another big part of it has to do with the fact that I teach women these types of things all the time, things to be aware of, safety tips they should follow.

-Whenever I go for a run, I make sure I tell someone that I am going and how far and what route I plan to take. That way they have an estimated amount of time of how long I should be gone.

-Whenever possible, I suggest going for walks/runs with a partner, safety in numbers.

-I always wear headphones to listen to my blaring music (I think it is so I don't hear how heavy I am breathing :-) ) so I make sure I am even more alert to my surroundings. I make sure to keep my head up, on a swivel and check behind me often.

-I take notice of cars coming towards me and passing by me. (This might be more the cop side of me but it's always good to be observant) I notice color, makes, models and sometimes if I can see, who is driving. In the event there is an emergency, those things could always be helpful.

-If you exercise in a populated area and see people out and about (I am pretty rural), I tell all the women that take my classes....Head up, make eye contact, let them know, "I see you, you see me" by having your head on a swivel and not appearing to be meek and not paying attention.

What are some things you do to keep safe when exercising outside?
