Keeping Downtown Fairfield Clean!

Thank you to the Matt Garcia Foundation for continuing its monthly cleanup of Texas Street in Downtown Fairfield as part of the City of Fairfield’s Adopt-A-Street program! Their ongoing commitment to keeping our community clean is a wonderful way to honor their son, Matt Garcia, through service and community engagement. 💙

At the September 1 City Council meeting, Mayor Rick Vaccaro reflected on the life and legacy of Councilmember Matt Garcia, who was tragically murdered on September 1, 2008.

Garcia had frequently stated since childhood that he wanted to become the mayor of Fairfield. During a community vigil after the shooting, Mayor Price publicly proclaimed him "Honorary Mayor 2008" to honor his life, his aspirations, and his dedication to local youth.

Matt’s parents, Teresa and Raymond Courtemanche, were present at the meeting and spoke lovingly about their son and the lasting impact he continues to have on our community.

Through the Matt Garcia Foundation, Teresa and Raymond continue to honor Matt’s memory and “Keep the Dream Alive” by supporting and giving back to the community he loved.

We remember Matt, his service to Fairfield, and the legacy of kindness and community that lives on in his name. www.mattgarciafoundation.org
