Before the school year wrapped up, Fairfield, CA Police Department had the opportunity to participate in Nelda Mundy Elementary School’s Annual Safety Day.

Students got an up-close look at patrol vehicles, police motorcycles, the K-9 team, and the SWAT BearCat while learning how these specialized tools and resources help officers serve and protect the community.

Officers also shared important safety tips and answered student questions throughout the event.

Thank you to Nelda Mundy Elementary for inviting Fairfield Police to be part of this fun and educational day. Events like this help build positive connections through education and community engagement.

Fairfield’s Sister City relationship with Nirasaki, Japan has been growing since 1971, creating lasting ties of friendship, cultural understanding, and goodwill between the two cities.

This year’s Student Ambassadors recently met with Councilmember Doriss Panduro and City Manager David Gassaway as they prepared for their upcoming exchange. During a pinning ceremony, each student received a City lapel pin and spoke about representing Fairfield with pride.

The exchange gives young people an opportunity to learn, lead, experience another culture, and share a piece of their hometown with Nirasaki. Fairfield is excited to hear about their experiences when they return.

This year’s Student Ambassadors include King Watson from Armijo High School, Ryan Lee from The Hotchkiss School, Drew Davenport and Khloe Lam from Rodriguez High School, and Sofia Velasco from Vacaville Christian High School, a recent graduate who is college-bound this fall. They will be accompanied by chaperone Deborah San Juan.

Safe travels to our Fairfield Student Ambassadors.

In “Call My Name,” Fairfield Poet Laureate Michael J. Wyly writes:

“Is there joy? Yes.
But also resilience.”
