We are proud to announce that Cheryl Geisler, FCSD EMIS Coordinator; and Angie Isgro, EMIS Specialist, are new graduates of the SWOCA EMIS Advanced Leaders program! They spent two years in this progressive level of training designed to increase the skills, confidence, and accountability needed to be advanced EMIS leaders.
EMIS is an acronym for Educational Management Information System and is defined as a system for the collection, integration, processing, maintenance, and dissemination of data within a school system. The information is used to support decision-making, planning, monitoring, and management.
The program included presentations from outside speakers on leadership, personal awareness, public speaking, and other topics. Participants were also required to submit continuing education/training hours each year. Additionally, their work included creating and leading a presentation to hone public speaking skills, and a capstone project that showcased the leadership and collaborative skills they learned in the program.
"I valued the opportunity to engage with my peers on a more personal level, rather than just sitting side by side at a training, Geisler said. "I have developed a network of EMIS Coordinators who I can turn to for advice and support."
Isgro agreed, adding "I personally gained confidence in myself and my knowledge. I have built relationships with other EMIS Coordinators that will be great resources for me."
Well done, ladies!
