The Town of Fairfield has been designated a member of the AARP Network of Age Friendly States and Communities. Fairfield is one of seven towns in the state to become part of this network. AARP's network, an affiliate of the World Health Organization's (WHO) Global Network of Age Friendly Cities and Communities Program, is part of an international campaign to help communities prepare for rapidly aging populations.

Age Friendly Fairfield is a town-wide initiative that aims to make our community a great place to grow up and grow old. As a member of the AARP Age Friendly Network, Fairfield commits to assessing the challenges of its aging population and identifying policies, programs and new ideas that will improve the quality of life for all ages in the community in collaboration with residents, communities and partners. Age Friendly Fairfield is a town-wide initiative that aims to make our community a great place to grow up and grow old. This exciting initiative will be a significant, comprehensive and challenging effort, yet will provide immense benefits to the entire Town. As a member of the AARP Age Friendly Network, Fairfield commits to assessing the challenges of its aging population and identifying policies, programs and new ideas that will improve the quality of life for all ages in the community in collaboration with residents, communities and partners.
Conducting a community survey is the first step in this important initiative. Tell us what’s important to you as you age, share your experiences, and let us know the extent to which our community is supporting the needs of Fairfield residents.
The information collected will be used to inform Fairfield’s efforts towards becoming a more livable community for residents of all ages, and is part of the Town’s commitment to becoming more age-friendly through enrollment in the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities.
To take the brief survey: Go to fairfieldct.org/agefriendlyfairfield. You can aslo stop into the Bigelow Center during business hours (M-F, 9:00-4:00) if you are unable to independently complete the survey or need computer access.
