The Dr. Dennis Scranton Memorial Cancer Fund was created to help ease travel and treatment-related expenses and burdens for people in our communities back in 2004.

Throughout the years, thousands of dollars have been distributed to help cancer patients and their families in our area. Today, however, that fund is nearly depleted.

Wayne-White Electric Lineman Nathan Coston recently had the opportunity to speak with the White County CEO students. He does a great job teaching them about different personality types and how each type can interact and work together for success.

Maybe it's just us, but it seems like we've had some crazy weather this year! With September being National Preparedness Month, we felt it was a good time to share some tips to be prepared before the next round of severe weather arrives.

As we recognize National Preparedness Month, take a few minutes this week to build or refresh your emergency kit. Include essentials like bottled water, nonperishable food, flashlights, extra batteries, a first-aid kit, medications, phone chargers and important documents.

Stay tuned for a tip each week this month as we prepare to weather the storm.

We might not have gotten to do the Live Line Demonstration yesterday, but we were glad to still be able to stop by with some of our linemen and trucks to share with the area FFA students at the Wayne City FFA Field Day.

Thank you to the WCHS FFA Alumni for inviting us and hopefully next year it won't be so HOT so we can give our demonstration for you all!
