Exciting news to wrap up the first week of Hunger Action Month & celebrate National Food Bank Day! 🧡

Food for Others joins DoorDash Impact in marking 150 million meals delivered through Project DASH. We are proud to be a part of this incredible milestone, by expanding access to food through home delivery in Northern Virginia.

Home delivery lets Food for Others serve households facing transportation, mobility, or scheduling barriers — reaching households who would otherwise go without. To date, Food for Others and Project DASH have powered over 1,750 deliveries to our local neighbors.

As we prepare to leave warm summer months behind, we're looking forward to celebrating Hunger Action Month.

During the whole month of September, Hunger Action Month brings people across the country together to end hunger in our local communities. This year, Food for Others is focused on highlighting the community it takes to push our mission forward 🥫.

If you're training for our Tysons 5K, you might need to prepare to see this paw-ty take first place...

For national dog day, FFO mascot Stevie gathered up all her best buds to make her team for the run🏃! Through lots of training, treats, and belly rubs, this team is ready to make a difference in their community. Of course, what better running outfit than our FFO shirts?

Students are back in the classroom, and our volunteers are back in the warehouse! 📚⏰

For many families, the school year brings more than just new schedules. It brings new challenges. Around 1.5 million children nationally have already faced a loss of food stamps since new restrictions and limitations were added to SNAP benefits.

Our Power Pack Program is helping ensure local students have access to nutritious meals over the weekend. Each pack is carefully assembled with 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 2 dinners, snacks, and juice to help bridge the gap when school meals aren't available.

We're so grateful for the volunteers who continue to show up for our neighbors and help make weekend meals one less worry for our local families.

It only takes 1! 🌱

When life gets busy, it can be challenging to find time to get involved with your community.

But there's good news: There's always a way to make a difference! Giving back doesn't have to be overwhelming. Just 1 volunteer shift or a 1-dollar donation can help our neighbors access the food they need.

Meet our neighbor, Francis. 🏡

Francis visits My Market with her children, who look forward to browsing the donated books available in the lobby while she checks in with our Client Intake team.

When asked about her experience, Francis says the support she receives goes beyond food assistance.

"The staff and volunteers are very kind and are always willing to help."

While teachers head back to set up their classrooms today, Food for Others is also ramping up the P3 Program to provide weekend meals for the school year 🎒. Since the beginning of the month, our volunteer P3 packers and drivers have been working to make this school year the most impactful yet!
