Sharing in honor of FASD awareness month!
Our partners at the Uniformed Services University, in collaboration with FASD United, are seeking caregivers to participate in a research study focused on the health care experiences of military-connected children with confirmed or possible fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD).

Eligible caregivers will take part in a virtual interview lasting approximately 60 minutes and will have the opportunity to share their experiences navigating the health care system for their child or dependent.

If you are interested in participating or would like more information, please contact Ms. Ilse Rivera at [email protected].

September is FASD Awareness Month! đź’š

Formed Families Forward recognizes the strengths, needs, and experiences of individuals with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) and the foster, adoptive, and kinship families who support them.

Throughout the month, we’ll be sharing information and resources to help build greater understanding of FASD and promote supports that are compassionate, informed, and responsive to how each individual’s brain works.

Our friends at FREDLA and C.A.S.E. are seeking young adults and caregivers for a research study on the impact of mental health therapy in foster, adoptive and kinship families.

Eligible participants are between ages 18-24 who are Black/African American or idenitify as LGBTQ+, and their caregivers.
The project’s goal is to improve mental health outcomes for children, youth, and young adults who have experienced the child welfare system and who were unable to reunify with their family of origin, including those who aged out of the system.

This week, FFF’s Stacia and Kelly joined family resource centers and other family engagement professionals from around the state at the VDOE Connect for Success conference in Harrisonburg. Great learning, sharing and connecting!
Stacia and Kelly shared new ways of supporting families who face "big" challenging behaviors and deepened understanding of the neurological basis. They shared strategies to help families reframe aggressive and destructive behaviors, and keep children safe during crisis.
