Thank you for everyone's patience while we made the final switch of the City's electricity over to the new transformer at the City's substation last week! The new transformer allows the City to meet future, increased electricity needs and replaced the City's aging transformer. A big thank you to the City's Public Works Department, ReVolt Electric and Highline Construction for the months of planning and for making the transition so smooth and efficient for residents! Thank you to the Fairfax PD and EMS for ensuring resident safety during the power outage. The goal was for residents to not even notice the change and it took a great team and a lot of planning to accomplish this!

The City of Fairfax will have a planned power outage tonight, beginning at midnight. We anticipate electricity to be restored by 5 am on Thursday, September 10th.
💡Don't forget to charge electronic devices before midnight tonight
💡Plan ahead for any medical equipment needs during the outage

🚸 BACK TO SCHOOL SAFETY REMINDER 🚸
As students head back to school, the Renville County Sheriff's Office is asking motorists and parents to help keep our children safe.

🚗 Motorists:
• Slow down in school zones and obey posted speed limits.
• Watch carefully for children crossing streets, especially near bus stops.
• Never pass a stopped school bus with flashing red lights and an extended stop arm—it’s the law and could save a child’s life.
• Stay alert and eliminate distractions while driving.

🚌 Parents:
Take a few minutes to review school bus safety with your children:
• Arrive at the bus stop early and stay away from the roadway.
• Wait for the bus to come to a complete stop before approaching.
• Always cross in front of the bus where the driver can see you, and only when signaled by the driver.
• Keep track of your belongings and follow the driver’s instructions.

All City of Fairfax utility customers received the following letter in August informing them of a planned electricity outage during the early morning hours of Thursday, September 10th. Please contact City Hall with any questions or concerns.

The City will be filling cracks and seal coating the streets colored in orange over the next few weeks. Crack filling in this area is scheduled to begin Monday, August 24th and seal coating will begin later next week. Please remove any parked vehicles from these streets and avoid unnecessary travel in this area while work is taking place. Thanks for your help!
