Honoring a Life of Service:

Sheriff Stacey A. Kincaid and the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Sheriff Steve Draper of the Martinsville Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Draper was the longest-serving sheriff in the Commonwealth of Virginia, dedicating decades of his life to serving and protecting the Martinsville community and the Commonwealth. We extend our deepest condolences to Sheriff Draper’s family, friends, colleagues, and the entire Martinsville community during this difficult time. We honor his life, his service, and his lasting legacy.

Rest in peace, Sheriff Draper. Your service will not be forgotten. 🖤💙

On International Overdose Awareness Day, we remember the lives lost to overdose, recognize the grief carried by families and loved ones, and stand with those working toward recovery.

At the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office, we see firsthand how substance use disorder can affect individuals, families, and our entire community. Inside the Adult Detention Center, programs such as medication for opioid use disorder, recovery-focused housing, peer support and connections to community-based care help provide pathways toward recovery and a healthier future.

Overdose is preventable. Recovery is possible. And every life is worth saving.

Today, we remember without stigma, support without judgment and continue working with our community partners to help create opportunities for recovery.

On , we recognize the progress that has opened doors for generations of women, and the women who continue to walk through those doors making their mark.

Across the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office, women serve at every level of our agency and in roles throughout our mission. They lead teams, mentor new deputies, protect our courts, serve in our Adult Detention Center, support our community, and help shape the future of FCSO.

Today, we celebrate how far we've come, recognize the work that continues and honor the women who demonstrate every day what is possible when opportunity has no limits.

School is officially back in session in Fairfax County! 🚸

That means school buses, busy crosswalks, and flashing school zone lights are back on our daily routes.

In this week's , Deputy Barb breaks down what you need to know to keep our students safe and avoid heavy fines:

Slow Down: When school zone lights are flashing, speed limits drop to 25 mph (or lower!). 🚌 Stop for Buses: Never pass a stopped school bus with red lights flashing and the stop-arm extended—it’s dangerous and carries steep penalties.

Give yourself an extra 5–10 minutes during your morning commute so you don't feel rushed.

✈️ Team FCSO Pulled Together! 💪

Talk about teamwork! Members of the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office put their strength to the test at the 2026 Dulles Plane Pull, joining teams from across the region to pull an aircraft for a great cause.

This year, 67 teams helped raise $512,000 for Special Olympics Virginia athletes, and we’re proud to share that Team FCSO finished in the TOP FIVE! 🏆

But the biggest win? Coming together to support the amazing athletes of Special Olympics Virginia.

Congratulations to everyone who grabbed the rope, dug in, and PULLED! 💪✈️ We’re proud of you, Team FCSO!

The Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office is headed to Reston Town Center’s Kids Fest on Saturday, Aug. 29! Our Child ID technicians will be there providing FREE Child ID cards for families. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦
