City of Fairfax Sustainability The Environmental Sustainability Committee envisions an environmentally sustainable City of Fairfax

The City of Fairfax is dedicated to preserving the resources of our built and natural environment and to ensure our community has clean air and water, safe and healthy neighborhoods, a resilient economy, and access to housing and transportation choices. The Environmental Sustainability Committee (ESC) is committed to guiding the City of Fairfax to become an environmentally sustainable “green city.

” This requires resource conservation and the efficient use of resources in all areas, including reducing the use of non–renewable resources as well as developing and using renewable resources. To accomplish these goals, the ESC will identify and recommend programs and policies that will engage residents and businesses in the creation of a sustainable city.
