Driveway Evacuation Drill
Saturday, June 6 at 10AM
The Fairfax Citizen’s Disaster Council voted to host a town-wide Driveway Evacuation Drill this Saturday, June 6th at 10:00 AM. The goal is not to simulate traffic congestion — it’s to help families improve coordination, identify gaps in their evacuation plans, and build confidence and readiness before a real emergency happens.
To prepare, review the evacuation guide with your household before the Driveway Evacuation this Saturday, June 6th.
How it Works
At 10:00 AM, the town siren at the Corp Yard will sound and a Nixle alert will be sent out clearly stating that this is only a drill.
Time your household as you:
Gather all family members and pets
Grab go-bags, medications, valuables, and keys
Load up the car and see how long it takes to get out the door!
Can’t make 10 AM? No problem. The drill is entirely self-directed — households can set their own alarm and run through it any time.

Alert Marin
Marin County uses the AlertMarin Emergency Notification System to deliver incident-specific emergency information such as evacuation orders, shelter-in-place directives, and other protective actions. Make sure all adults in your household are signed up — and if you think you already are, log in to review your record and confirm your information is current.
You can now also identify additional areas of the county for which you’d like to receive alerts, including other towns, as well as notifications for prescribed burns and significant weather events.
The Marin County Office of Emergency Management is planning a county-wide AlertMarin test in September 2026 — now is a great time to sign up or review your information.
