The Fairfax Theatre Company proudly presents it’s nineteenth annual production at the Fairfax Pavilion this September with The Importance of Being Earnest, Oscar Wilde’s most enduring witty play, a farcical comedy that masterfully satirizes Victorian-era superficiality, marriage, and social hypocrisy. Following the themes of social obligations and romance, and showcasing clever repartee, the play highlights how artificiality and deception are used to navigate strict social mores. Don’t miss this enduring and lovably iconic play directed by Sam M. Parry!

September 2, 2026 Town Council Meeting Recap

Meeting Highlights
At the September 2, 2026 Town Council meeting, the Town Council:

-Received a presentation from Marin County on the Emergency Operations Plan and coordinated preparation for the 2026–27 El Niño season. (Informational only)
Received a presentation from Pacific Gas & Electric Company on the August 15, 2026 underground vault fire and power outage at Broadway and Bolinas Road. (Informational only)
-Received a presentation from the Ross Valley Sanitary District on its treatment-cost dispute with the Central Marin Sanitation Agency and voted to send a letter to the Central Marin Sanitation Agency on behalf of the Town, with a copy to the Ross Valley Sanitary District. No Council liaison to the RVSD Board was appointed.
-Continued the Fleet Electrification Plan to the October 7, 2026 meeting.
-Received a presentation on Town Code amendments to accommodate outdoor special events and directed staff to proceed with the zoning code amendment process through the Planning Commission, with direction to keep the process streamlined and the resulting permit practical and affordable.
-Declined the residents’ petition request to open a discussion regarding recreational (adult-use) cannabis.
-All consent calendar items were approved except the letter to the Governor rescinding the Town’s opposition to AB1383, which failed on a tie vote and will not be sent.

Town Council meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month at the Fairfax Women’s Club and online. We occasionally hold special meetings.

Heat Advisory in Effect Through 10 PM Thursday, Sept 10

Marin County is under a heat advisory, and NWS/HHS officials warn this week is just the start of our hottest months. Kids, older adults, outdoor workers, and those without reliable cooling are most at risk.

Stay safe:
🥤 Hydrate, skip alcohol/caffeine
🏠 Avoid outdoor activity 10am–4pm
🌡️ Set thermostats to 74°F
👵 Check on vulnerable neighbors
🔋 Charge backup batteries for medical devices

⚠️ Know the warning signs: heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke can escalate quickly. If someone shows confusion, hot/dry skin, or loses consciousness, call 911 immediately.

Upcoming Park Road Closures

Park Road is tentatively scheduled to be closed to traffic, including bikes, on September 10, 11, and 14 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
-Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the work.
-Bikes will need to use alternate routes.
-Residents will be able to access their driveways on Thursday and Friday, but should expect delays.

On Monday, September 14, driveways will not be accessible while the new pavement cools and hardens.
-Residents who need vehicle access during the closure should park on a nearby street before 8:00 a.m.
-Properties will remain accessible on foot.
-Residents who need assistance with access to their homes due to accessibility needs should contact [email protected].

The work will be phased so that Wreden Drive and Frustuck Avenue are not closed at the same time.

Please follow all posted detour signs and do not enter areas marked as closed.

Town staff released a Public Review Draft of the 2026 Bicycle and Pedestrian Masterplan yesterday and a survey asking for input on the plan's recommended projects.
The public is encouraged to provide direct feedback to staff, through the survey, or by attending our upcoming Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee meeting on September 21 at 7pm at the Fairfax Women's Club.
