City of Fairfax Commission on the Arts The COA offers funding, hosts exhibits, performances, public art, and more. Funding - grants to arts organizations in the City of Fairfax.

The City of Fairfax Commission on the Arts was established in 1979 by the City Council to encourage, promote, and provide opportunity for artistic expression within the City. The City of Fairfax Commission on the Arts was created in 1979 by Mayor Fredrick Silverthorne and his Council to encourage, to promote and to provide opportunity for artistic expression within the City. The Commission is working to continue the enrichment of the community through funding, information, encouragement, exhibits, education, and co-ordination. Information—marketing and publicity of upcoming arts events. Encouragement - funding to aid and assist emerging arts groups. Exhibits - provide opportunities for exhibition of works of art. Education - support programs designed to increase understanding and appreciation of the arts in City schools. Coordination - working with area arts organizations to open new avenues and venues for the arts in the city.

The City of Fairfax Early Childhood Arts Program is live!! Bring your little ones September 14, from 10:30 AM to 11:15 AM to the Stacy C. Sherwood Center (3740 Blenheim Blvd., Fairfax VA) 🎨🎭📖

Designed to inspire a lifelong love of the Arts, children ages 2 - 5 will gain experience learning how to watch, listen, participate, and show appreciation and respect for performers and artists. Programs will feature a variety of art forms, including music, storytelling, dance, and other specialty arts performances. (formerly Funday Monday).

Did you know there’s a film club in our area that premieres new independent and foreign films?! 🎬📽🍿

Film Club at Cinema Arts Theatres meets monthly on Sundays at 10:00 am. And it gets even better… The titles are a secret until the audience arrives. After viewing, the audience is polled on whether the film should be distributed at Cinema Arts for a longer run. Tickets are $19 at the box office.
