In 2024, Britepaths is celebrating 40 years of providing help and hope to Northern Virginia residents in crisis. Similar to a business, we provide a service to the community called social impact: the effect an organization's actions have on the wellbeing of the community. We tailor our services to meet the ever-changing needs of our neighbors. Our unique programs equip working individuals and fami

lies with the tools they need to withstand a crisis situation and begin a journey toward lasting independence. The Financial Empowerment and Workforce Development programs at Britepaths and the Financial Empowerment Center at South County foster Personal Empowerment, helping community members deepen their personal finance skills or pursue better-paying jobs. Our Stability programs – Food Bridge and Financial Assistance – help families stay in their homes while they work through a crisis. Through community partnerships, we also offer Supports for Children, including Food4Thought weekend food packs, Back to School and Holiday assistance and Youth Financial Education, providing hope and easing stress for children and their families. For too many local families, Back to School readiness is becoming harder to afford. Each year, Britepaths’ Back to School Program helps ensure students and teachers have the supplies they need to start the school year prepared and confident. This year, up to 500 local students and 100 teachers at our partner schools in Fairfax County and Fairfax City will receive backpacks, supplies, and classroom resources.

Donate today at britepaths.org/bts26 to ensure our client families and teachers have the support they need.

On this Memorial Day, we honor the service members who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is a reminder of the responsibility we share to support one another in community.

A new backpack and school supplies. The confidence that comes from feeling prepared. For too many local families, that readiness is becoming harder to afford. Through Britepaths’ Back to School Program, up to 500 students and 100 teachers will receive the supplies and classroom resources they need to start the school year strong.

Thank you to the City of Fairfax Government and the Chocolate Lovers Festival Committee for supporting Britepaths' Food4Thought program! This grant will help provide weekend meals for City of Fairfax students at Daniels Run Elementary School who may otherwise go without consistent access to food when school is not in session. We're grateful for partnerships that invest directly in the well-being of local children and families and help strengthen food security across our community.

Last fall, AHC launched the RISE program, helping residents like Dan build toward greater financial stability.

Launched in partnership with the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, Alexandria VA and Britepaths, RISE combines rent relief with matched savings and financial skill-building.

Dan has already saved several hundred dollars — beyond the program's $10 monthly contribution — giving him the flexibility to visit family and give back to his community without added financial stress.

“Every little bit helps,” Dan said. “It eases pressures with budgets, and it’s a very generous program.”

Thank you to the City of Fairfax, Mayor Catherine Read, and the Chocolate Lovers Festival Committee for supporting local nonprofits and the neighbors we serve! We are honored to receive this year's grant alongside Every1Can Work and Music To Free. This support helps Northern Virginia families access food, financial assistance, workforce development services, and other resources that build stability and opportunity.

Tonight, Mayor Catherine Read, with Central Fairfax Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jennifer Rose and numerous other members of the Chocolate Lovers Festival Committee, presented the annual Chocolate Lovers Festival Committee grant to three recipients:
🌟 Britepaths, which helps Northern Virginia neighbors in crisis help *themselves* to brighter futures;
🌟 Every1Can Work (whose first business enterprise is a favorite, Cameron's Coffee & Chocolates), and
🌟 Music To Free, which leads handbell programs at low/fixed income senior living centers, veteran rehabilitation programs, and addiction treatment programs.

As a part of its ongoing mission, the Chocolate Lovers Festival supports local nonprofit efforts by donating a portion of the festival proceeds to nonprofit organizations that are located within the city or serve city residents from within the metropolitan Washington area. The grant is awarded to organizations that contribute to the common good and enhance the quality of life within our community, reinforcing the fact that the festival is about more than just chocolate.

The Chocolate Lovers Festival is held on the first full weekend in February in Old Town Fairfax. Visit fairfaxva.gov/chocolatefestival for event details.
