You will be able to vote for the proposed ESD 10 within Fairchild Fire District in 3 weeks on Saturday, May 4th. As you have seen, banners and yard signs are placed within the fire district asking you to vote yes.

For informational purposes, we are asking for .10 cents for every hundred dollars your property is valued at to go directly to the Emergency Services District.

For example, if approved and your property value is $400,000 that would generate $400 of your taxes a year to the Proposed ESD 10. That is an estimated $33 a month to go toward fire protection, medical emergencies, natural disaster response, provide 24/7 fire/medical protection at all times instead of a complete volunteer response with delayed response times.

We are having a town hall meeting this next Tuesday April 23 @ 6:30pm. We will go over all questions concerning the ESD, discuss the future growth within the Fairchilds area, and any plans in the future. Our area is growing rapidly, so we are giving the public the chance to learn and talk about future plans not only with the fire department but also the Development and what Fairchilds could look like 5-10 years from now.

Please spread the word and tell your neighbors. The Village of Fairchilds council would like to get your input as well, along with listen to your concerns.

We have received some of our ESD yard signs in and are beginning to distribute them. If you would like us to drop one off at your house please let us know. There is a QR code on them and can be scanned to obtain information. We will have a town hall meeting April 23 to discuss future growth and answer any ESD questions you may have.

On January 23, 2024, the proposed ESD 10 petition went for final review and approval to proceed with the vote of creation in the commissioner's court. The vote was unanimous, all commissioner's court members were for Proposed ESD 10 creation and saw it feasible at this time.

Two guest speakers who resided outside the Proposed ESD 10 boundaries spoke during the court session on behalf of the creation of an ESD and were against it due to the nature of development that could be brought to the area in the future. All though they had some valid concerns, it had nothing to do with fire protection or why an ESD should be created. If anything, it showed how much our community will need this and we should be prepared for the huge surge of population soon to come.

In the early morning hours local fire departments were called to a garage on fire at a residence. The time it took units to respond and the amount of personnel available shows why Fairchilds needs to have a staffed Fire Department that is supported by an ESD.

Initial call was at 3am:

Needville Fire responded with an Engine from station #1 With 1 person on board. Along with an Engine from station #2 (out by the state park) With 1 person as well. (23 min. response time to scene)

Fairchild Fire responded with 2 people on an Engine and 1 on a Tanker. (22 min. response time to scene)

Pleak Fire responded across 2 fire districts with 2 on duty paid personnel on an Engine. (17 min. response time to scene)

Rosenberg Fire responded across 3 fire districts with 4 on duty Firefighters. (35 min. response time to scene)

That's along time to wait and watch your house burn, while volunteers respond from home to their volunteer stations. 23 mins seems like an hour when your waiting on someone to show up to your emergency (Fire, Motor Vehicle Accident, Sick Call, or Cardiac Arrest). I say 23 minutes, because that's the time it took for the first Fire Truck to make location.

It takes on average about 10-15 mins for a first responder to get dressed, leave their house and arrive at the fire station. That would be 10 minutes less if Fairchild Fire Department had personnel at the station ready for all emergencies.

Stay informed and share this page with your neighbors. Please if you have any questions ask. Many new details are soon to be posted about the Proposed ESD 10, where it stands currently and how you as a voter/citizen can help.

OUTDOOR BURN BAN IN EFFECT

Fort Bend County Commissioner’s Court approved an outdoor burn ban for unincorporated areas of the county during a regular scheduled session of court, Tuesday, August 8, 2023.

As the extreme heat continues and drought conditions progress, the risk for fire dangers increase. The Fort Bend County Fire Marshal’s Office has been monitoring the Keetch-Bryam Drought Index which is used in determining forest fire potential. The drought index is based on a daily water balance, where a drought factor is balanced with precipitation and soil moisture. The drought index ranges from 0 to 800, where a drought index of 0 represents no moisture depletion, and an index of 800 represents absolutely dry conditions. As of today, August 8, 2023, Fort Bend County’s index was 651.

After presentation of index values and the continued forecast of extreme heat with no rain, Commissioner’s Court came to a consensus that circumstances present in the county can potentially create a public safety hazard. The Declaration and Order Prohibiting Outdoor Burning in Fort Bend County states that no person burn or order another to burn any material outside of an enclosure designed to contain and capable of containing all flames, sparks, embers, cinders and ash produced by burning. Therefore, limits the use of open flames which includes burning trash, campfires, using burn barrels and any other open flame devices.

**Recent update**

Some of the citizens may have already been approached, but those of you who haven’t here is our update.

As posted previously we didn’t have enough signatures for the Emergency Services petition to make it to court in May. We have had a lot of feedback and positive conversations within the community. This is our last chance to take action before the Fire Department is overwhelmed with calls and not able to keep up with only being volunteer.

We unfortunately learned that all the signatures obtained last May election have expired. We now have to obtain all new signatures for the November election. We are looking to have this completed within a month. If you have any questions, comments or would he willing to help obtain signatures please feel free to reach out to us and we will help anyway we can.

You must own real property in Fairchild Fire District and be a registered voter to sign the petition.

02/21/2023

As of 2/21, we are still lacking a few signatures before we can turn in the petition. Please message us and we will be glad to meet you at your convenience.

Or if you still have some questions we can set a time to answer them as well.

01/24/2023

Update: our goal was to turn in the ESD petition last week on Thursday to have it added to commissioners court today (Tuesday). We had about 101 signatures of the 100 needed to allow it to go to vote on the may ballot.

Unfortunate Fact: Of the 100 signatures turned in only 80 were actual real property owners. Out of the 80 property owners only 71 were registered voters in Fort Bend County.

So as of now and everything turned in this week and last that has been verified we now have 80 total signatures. We did not meet the deadline for May's ballot but we are shooting for the November Ballot now. We will now use March 1, 2023 as our last deadline.

IF WE DO NOT MEET THIS NEW DEADLINE WE WILL HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL 2025 TO TRY AGAIN.

A huge thank you to everyone who has worked so hard to obtain signatures and inform our neighbors. We only need 20 more!! We can do it. Please message us if you know anyone who would like to either sign or obtain there own copy of the petition to gather signatures.
