tructing, evaluating, and executing training tasks. Drill Sergeant Candidates (DSC) attend the 56 day Drill Sergeant School (DSS) at Fort Jackson, SC, or Fort Knox, KY. Drill Sergeant Candidates must:
• Be a E-5 or above
• Meet height and weight standards
• Score a minimum of 70 points in each APFT event (to graduate from DSS)
• Be a High School graduate
• Be 40 years of age or less
• Display good military bearing
• Demonstrate leadership ability and the capability to perform in positions of increased responsibility
• Have a minimum GT score of 100
• Have qualified with a M16 within the last 6 months
• Have a minimum of 4 years time in service
• Have a Commander’s evaluation by a LTC or higher
• Have no record of emotional instability
• Have no court-martial conviction
• Have no record of disciplinary action or time lost during current enlistment or within the last 3 years, whichever is longer
• Have no speech impediment
