๐Ÿฅ”๐Ÿ’™ A HUGE THANK YOU to Vicki Bishop & Team Potatoheads! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿฅ”

We are incredibly grateful to Vicki Bishop, IACโ€™s longtime Board Treasurer, for her generous donation of 50 pounds of potatoes to IAC!

These potatoes were grown by Team Potatoheads on a 40- by 60-foot plot in Goldstream Valley from June through September 2026.

We are so thankful for your generosity and for the hard work that went into growing this wonderful harvest. Your support helps nourish our community and makes a meaningful difference here at IAC!

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ October 2 is the International Day of Non-Violence.

Non-violence starts with how we treat one another. Today is an opportunity to promote healthy relationships, respectful communication, peaceful conflict resolution, and safer communities.

Prevention happens when we build strong connections, practice healthy ways to navigate conflict, and create spaces where everyone feels safe and respected.

๐Ÿ’™ Together, we can build safer, healthier, and more connected communities.

โ€œWhen a woman hundreds of years, thousand of years ago was sexually assaulted, there wasnโ€™t anything she could do about it. If her father or her husband or her brother wanted to hold the other man accountable, they could go into court because their propertyโ€™s worth had been diminished.

โ€œIt wasnโ€™t until 1984 that the state of Alaska passed legislation where it could be a crime if you had sexually assaulted your wife. 1984.

โ€œWeโ€™ve had hundreds of years where itโ€™s okay to do it, where itโ€™s expected. And weโ€™ve just had a few years of, โ€˜No, thatโ€™s not okay.โ€™โ€

Lauree Morton is the Deputy Director of the Alaska Network on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault (ANDVSA). For over 30 years she has driven legislative action to prevent & respond to AKโ€™s epidemic of sexual assault & domestic violence.

NEW! The age of consent in Alaska is now 18, and we have created this flowchart to help everyone understand what that means.

This visual guide breaks down when consent can legally be given and reminds us that age is only one part of true consent. Feel free to share!
