SUMMER SNOW❄️📉🥶a major cooldown will bring an early taste of winter to the Brooks Range this week! Rain is expected to transition to snow Tuesday afternoon and evening as temperatures fall with snow continuing through Wednesday. The highest terrain will see 3-7 inches, Atigun Pass will see 1-3 inches and Anaktuvuk Pass will see 1 inch or. Temperatures across the North Slope and Brooks Range will tumble from the 50s and lower 60s Tuesday into the 30s and 40s Wednesday. The eastern Brooks Range will remain chilly Thursday, although snow should end as drier weather arrives. Meanwhile, this system will primarily produce widespread rain and strong winds across Interior and Southcentral Alaska. No meaningful low-elevation snow is currently expected around Fairbanks, Anchorage or other population centers farther south but the highest surrounding peaks will see snow, and parts of the Yukon will see high elevation snow. This is not unusual for this time of the year❄️
