Cops and Bobbers was a success!! Thank you all for coming out to enjoy the outdoor opportunities on the Isand with our law enforcement officers!! Also, thank you to the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa State Patrol, and the Fairbank Police Department for their participation and for working with the many different anglers. Thank you to our Reserve Officer David Wilson for organizing and coordinating this event. AND, Thank You to our many donors that contributed to making this event possible!! FISH ON!!!

It was an honor for Police Chief Dakota Drish to attend this training.

The Iowa S*x Crimes Investigators Association held its annual training in Des Moines this week. This conference brings members from multiple disciplines together to continue education in investigating and prosecuting sexual assault. Buchanan County was strongly represented by all of its law enforcement agencies and the Buchanan County Attorney's Office.

REMINDER: With the snow season coming, please be advised that when it begins to snow, Fairbank Ordinance pertaining to SNOW REMOVAL will be in affect. This ordinance states that no person shall park, abandon or leave unattended any vehicle on any public street, alley, or City-owned off-street parking area during snow removal operations unless the snow has been removed or plowed from said street, alley or parking area and the snow has ceased to fall. Enforcement action may be taken against a person in violation of this city ordinance. If you have any questions, please contact our Fairbank City Hall. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and in complying with our city ordinance' and our snow removal efforts!

Effective October 3rd at 4:00 pm, Buchanan County is under a burn ban due to excessively dry conditions. This means all open burning is prohibited until further notice.

This burn ban does NOT prohibit a supervised, controlled burn where a permit has been issued by the fire chief of the fire district where the burn will take place, the use of outdoor fireplaces, barbecue grills, properly supervised landfills or the burning of trash in incinerators or trash burners made of metal, concrete, masonry or heavy one-inch wire mesh with no openings greater than one square inch.
