Meeting Notice

In accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act, P.L. 1979, c.231 (C10:4-6 et seq.), notice is given that the Governing Body of the Borough of Fair Lawn will hold a Work Session on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. in Room 201, located on the second floor of the Fair Lawn Municipal Building, 8-01 Fair Lawn Avenue, Fair Lawn, New Jersey.

All meetings shall be held in person.

All members of the public in attendance will have the opportunity to comment at the meeting during the public comment period.

The agenda is available below. The agenda packet is to be made available on the Borough’s website, at least 48 hours prior to the meeting.

Formal action may be taken at the above-listed meeting.

Portions of all meetings may be held in executive session to the extent allowed by law.

Route 208 is scheduled to have daytime lane closures in both directions this week as the CR 507/Maple Avenue Bridge over Route 208 replacement project advances in Glen Rock and Fair Lawn, Bergen County. In addition, CR 507/Maple Avenue is scheduled to have alternating traffic during the day this week.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 9 and continuing Thursday, September 10 and Friday, September 11 at the same time, the right lanes on Route 208 in both directions are scheduled to be closed. The closures are necessary for PSE&G to remove overhead wires. At least one lane will be maintained.

In addition, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, September 9 and continuing Thursday, September 10 and Friday, September 11 at the same time, CR 507/Maple Avenue is scheduled to have a single lane closure with alternating traffic on the Bridge over Route 208. Motorists are advised to slow down, use caution and expect delays when traveling through the work zone.

This work is part of the $10.4 million federally funded bridge replacement project that will replace the bridge deck and superstructure on the CR 507/Maple Avenue Bridge over Route 208 in Glen Rock and Fair Lawn, Bergen County. In addition, the project will improve bridge under-clearance, drainage, lighting, signage and fencing on the bridge, as well as replace sidewalks and upgrade curb ramps to meet ADA standards. Construction is expected to be completed in fall 2028.

This project supports the Sherrill Administration’s commitment to improving the transportation network by maintaining roads and bridges in a state of good repair to help people and goods move safely and efficiently throughout the state for decades to come.

The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for construction updates and real-time travel information.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Bergen County beginning at midnight through 11 pm on Thursday August 27. Possible heavy rains of 1-1.5 inches may cause flooding across the County, including, highways, streets with poor drainage or low lying areas. Fair Lawn Emergency Management will continue to monitor this system and issue further bulletins as necessary.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Bergen County beginning at 2pm to through 2am Friday. Showers and thunderstorms will move through Bergen County this afternoon into the evening. A period of heavy rain resulting in flash flooding is possible. Emergency Management will continue to monitor this storm system and issue further messages as necessary.
