On Thursday, June 11, 2026, the Borough of Fair Lawn celebrated the groundbreaking of Plaza Greene, a transformative mixed-use development that will revitalize a long-underutilized property into a vibrant community destination.

The ceremony took place at the site of the former Dollar Store, previously a Rite Aid and Grand Union supermarket, and featured remarks from distinguished guests, including Governor Mikie Sherrill, Mayor Cristina Cutrone, Developer Kevin Codey of Danbro Properties, and Laura Martino of Sprouts Farmers Market. Also in attendance was Former Mayor Gail Friedberg Rottenstrich; who is currently a member of the Borough's Planning Board member and key driver of the project.

Developed by Danbro Properties and Sterling Properties, Plaza Greene is a thoughtfully designed, transit-oriented community adjacent to the NJ TRANSIT station. The development will offer 145 apartments for residents 55 years and older, secure underground parking, and a Sprouts Farmers Market, marking the first Sprouts location in Bergen County. Sprouts, a fast-growing Phoenix-based specialty supermarket chain, focuses on natural, organic, and healthy foods and operates nearly 500 stores across 23 states.

"Today’s groundbreaking represents much more than the redevelopment of a single property," stated Mayor Cristina Cutrone. "Plaza Greene advances several of our town’s long-term goals by bringing new retail and public spaces to this important corridor, improving pedestrian connections between the train station and our downtown, providing housing options for older adults, creating affordable housing opportunities, including for those with developmental disabilities. Most importantly, it sends a strong message that Fair Lawn is a town worth investing in."

The building blends classic and contemporary architectural elements, including traditional brick detailing, expansive glass windows, and a striking standing seam mansard roof, complementing the nearby historic Radburn Building while enhancing the public streetscape.

🚧 Road Milling Update 🚧

Tilcon is finishing up its first day of milling and will resume work tomorrow through June 5.

Milling has been completed on 29th Street. Due to minimal pavement thickness, the underlying stone base course has been exposed in several areas.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid these roadways when possible or drive with caution to prevent loose stones from being kicked up.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
