Busy day on Saturday for FHFD! Crews supported the Rumson Nave-Sink-Or-Swim. Firefighters completed several intense live-burn drills at the Middlesex County Fire Academy. And of course, the day ended with EMS and Fire first responders staged at Fair Haven Day. All this, plus responding to calls in town.

And congratulations to Andy Scheffer! Yesterday he graduated from the Middletown Fire Academy, making him our latest trained firefighter. Andy first joined as a Social Member just over a year ago, decided he wanted to to also help the Fire Police, then joined the First Aid Squad so that he could help out at medical calls. Now he will add FHFD Firefighter to the many ways he serves the Fire Company, and our town! (🐸not to mention, Frog Bog duty at the Fair!)

This morning, Fire Police and First Aid volunteers provided street safety and EMS support at the annual "Girls on the Run 5K" race.

Great job, race organizers and runners!

Thanks to the generosity of our community, the Squad was able to purchase a critical piece of life saving equipment for CPR: the Stryker LUCAS Chest Compression Device. First Aiders brought it out for the first time at our Fire Drill this week (the mannequin was patient during our tests runs!).

We could not have purchased this and other important First Aid equipment without your donations.

🚒Scenes from last night's house structure drill on Harvard Rd. Great job by our firefighters, first aid and fire police!

👏Thank you to the Rumson Fire Company for joining us at the drill.
📐Thank you to KS Shaw Construction, Co. for allowing us to practice firematics in the house before it is taken down.
🚑Thank you to our EMS crew for being on standby during the drill - (They also practiced CPR using our brand new Lucas Compression device on a "victim" pulled out of the house).
🍽Thank you to our Auxiliary members who had a late dinner set up at the firehouse for our hungry first responders.
🏡And thank you to our community (especially the patient Harvard Rd. neighbors!). Your support allows to continue 122 years of service to Fair Haven!

Tonight, Wednesday, starting at 5:30, FHFD and neighboring fire departments will be conducting a firefighting drill at a house on Harvard Rd. The street will be closed from Cambridge to Lake.

❤️ June 1–7 is National CPR/AED Awareness Week! If someone nearby collapsed, would you know what to do?
About 70% of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen at home. Performing immediate CPR can double or triple a person’s chance of survival, and you don't need a medical degree to do it.
Remember these 2 simple steps for Hands-Only CPR:

1️⃣ Call 911 immediately.
2️⃣ Push hard and fast in the center of the chest to the beat of the song "Stayin' Alive" by the Bee Gees (or "Baby Shark"!). Seconds matter. You have the power to save a life!

Bob Kelleher, Jr. was Captain of the Rumson First Aid Squad when he tragically passed away at the age of 47 in 2009.

This morning, at the 16th Annual Kids Tri for Bob Kelleher, which kicked off with the Navesink River swim off of Victory Park beach, Fair Haven First Aid Squad supported the event along the bike course. Great job by all the kids and the race organizers. It is an honor to help out our neighbors at an event that honors a great first responder and EMS leader.
