It’s coming!

Make waves with us at the Waterfest Parade on Saturday, June 27, 2026.

This year’s theme is Hometown Waves, and we’re inviting local businesses, organizations, churches, clubs, teams, families, and creative community members to join the fun. Whether you go all out with a float, decorate a vehicle, walk with your group, or bring plenty of hometown spirit, we’d love to see Excelsior Springs show up in a big way.

Entries even have a chance to win up to $100, thanks to our sponsor, Bank Midwest.

Visit ESWaterfest.com or scan the QR code in the image to sign up and learn more.

Let’s make this year’s parade one to remember.

I had the pleasure of conversation with Phillip Scherer at Other Trails Coffee last week. Phil’s dream of a single track trail system in Excelsior is now a reality. He is pointing to a map of the trail which has just seen completion of the initial 1.8 mile outer loop. More to come!

Thank you Phil for your dedication and diligence to see your dream come to fruition. You are a blessing to this community!

My wife and I enjoyed the gathering at Harrahs for Lincoln…Reagan…Trump Days Celebration. Will Sharf have a great presentation that brought perspective to what is typically reported in the legacy liberal media. Thank you Mark Meirath House District 39 State Representative for the invite. It was a great event.

I had the pleasure of witnessing a great event on Wednesday at Chuck Anderson Ford. The dealership was chosen by Missouri Automobile Dealers Association to collaborate on a donation of an F-150 pickup to Special Olympics. Law Enforcement agencies across the KC Metro will sell raffle tickets to raise money for Special Olympics. In attendance was our own Lieutenant Jeremiah Renne, along with police officers from Lees Summit, and Kansas City.

My wife and I took a walk this afternoon to celebrate the outabout.org challenge presented by our Neighborhood Specialist, Laura Mize. We bumped into a downtown dweller, Alli Linehan. We had a delightful chat and enjoyed the beautiful weather while walking the streets of our neighborhood, downtown Excelsior Springs.

I enjoyed participating in the Candidates Forum last night at the Co Op at Excelsior Springs, located at the First United Church. All of the candidates did a great job of answering the questions presented by moderator Brian Rice, Excelsior Springs Chamber Director. I was particularly impressed with some of candidate Josh Nunez’s answers. He is young, with lots of energy, and some great ideas, and would be a great addition to the Council. Whether he is elected or not, I’m encouraging him to keep at it, take part in the Citizen’s Leadership Academy, get appointed to some boards, etc. Josh has my full support.

Laura Mize, our fabulous Neighborhood Specialist, and I had the privilege of being interviewed by Trevor Borgman from Missouri University Extension. Check out the video. Trevor did a great job of capturing our thoughts on connecting Excelsior Springs through neighboring!

We had a great time celebrating with Molly McGovern. Molly has served faithfully as City Manager for Excelsior Springs for the past 9 years. Her tireless efforts to make Excelsior Springs a better place to work, live and play in will be remembered long after she vacates the corner office. Thank you Mark Meirath House District 39 State Representative for helping to make Molly’s celebration a memorable send off. (Molly is showing off her retirement gift from the City, a custom cuff created by Sturm Bros.' Jewelers using some pieces of the terrazzo from the repairs made to the floor in the Hall of Springs Water Bar)

I had the privilege of attending the Greater Kansas City Mayors’ Prayer Breakfast this morning. I was blessed by the testimony of Martin T Rucker (former NFL tight end) and his wife Geony (Founder and CEO of ValueUnconditional.org) Both of them made much of Jesus! It was a great gathering!
