❤️‍🩹 Chowda has had a rough week!

He's feeling a little worn out from his neuter in this picture, but he's neutered now, so...

🤩 Chowda is available for adoption!!!

This fun, silly, cuddly, adorable pup is about 1 1/2 years old, is a most likely a Boston Terrier type mix, and weighs 22 pounds.

Chowda is still recovering at the OC's house, but he can be brought to the shelter for a meet and greet very easily.

🚨URGENT 🚨

We are facing one of the hardest parts of sheltering right now.

Despite enrichment, walks, treats, toys, cuddles, outings, and every effort our staff and volunteers can give, several of our dogs are struggling with the effects of long-term kennel stress. Shelter life is hard. The constant noise, confinement, and lack of a real home environment can take a serious toll on even the sweetest dogs.

Some of these dogs are becoming urgent simply because they are mentally declining in the shelter setting — not because they are bad dogs.

These are dogs that need adopters, fosters, rescues, or even just advocates willing to share their posts and help us get them seen.

A kennel is not a home. And for some dogs, time is something we are running out of.

If you have been thinking about fostering, adopting, networking, or rescuing, now is the time. Please help us give these dogs the chance they deserve before kennel stress steals it from them.

🐱We have KITTENS!

Meet Bacanora(F), Sotol(F), Cento(M), and Raicilla(F)! These fuzznuggets are ~8 week old DSH mixes that will be available on FRIDAY 5/22.
🥰They are a little shy, but with some snuggles and love, they will be the cuddliest kittens in no time.

❗️These kittens are too young for spay/neuter and rabies so they will go home with a voucher to get these services done when age appropriate at no cost to the adopter.
‼️Sterilization and rabies are REQUIRED by state law and we strictly enforce those laws.

Adoption fee is $40 and includes:
🐾 Voucher for sterilization & rabies
🐾 1st set of core vaccines
🐾 Flea/tick prevention
🐾 Basic deworming
🐾 Microchip & registration

CHOWDA UPDATE

This fella has been hanging out with our Outreach Coordinator the past few days. Here what she has to say about him:

Chowda has done SO well at my house!
He hasn't had one accident in the house. He learned really quickly to go to the back door to go outside.
He was super nervous of my dogs (both senior females- Jack Russell (Roxy) & Blue Heeler (Molly)) at first. Understandably so. He warmed up to Roxy really fast. Pretty soon they were chasing each other around in the yard. It took him a few days to warm up to Molly. He was pretty intimidated by her, even though it's the little one that'll get ya. Now they lay together on the couch. There was no aggression at all, just a few initial growls to establish boundaries, but that was it. Now they eat in the same room, lay on the couch together, and play with toys together. No food aggression or toy possession.
I crated him at night in my bedroom. He whined a little at first, but as soon as the lights were off, he was asleep. No issues at all.
He is super snuggly, playful, loves squeaky toys, and chasing the ball. He is friendly with everyone and just wants to lay next to you with a paw on your lap. I was on the computer for a couple hours the other day and he just laid at my feet. He follows me around when I do chores. He will follow you to the bathroom. You will always have company. He doesn't bark a lot.

❤️ Chowda is going to make someone a great companion. He's not the kind of dog to leave outside - he wants to be with his people. He loves to be hugged and cuddled. If you are looking for a funny, lovable, silly little friend, Chowda will be perfect!

🐾 He's headed to Texas Coalition for Animal Protection tomorrow for his neuter and rabies vaccination. Then he'll be ready for adoption. There's is NO event on the 30th. So, if you want to meet him, please call us at 817-561-5495 to schedule an appointment.

We had a blast at our event today, but we didn't have ANY adoptions. Y'all, we need adoptions! Many of our available pups have been with us for WEEKS! That isn't great for their mental health. We're also SUPER small.
We don't have an event booked for this coming weekend (our Outreach Coordinator is on vacation), so adoptions need to happen at the shelter this week.

Due to limited staffing, we have put temporary service hours in place.

Monday - Friday - OPEN 8am - 4pm
Saturday - Sunday - CLOSED
All Major Holidays - CLOSED

🐾We do NOT accept stray drop offs at the shelter. Any stray found must be called from location and an officer will be dispatched to the location.

🐾 Adoptions & reclaims are by appointment only. You can call us at 817-561-5495 or email [email protected] to schedule an appointment.

🐾 After hours NON EMERGENCY service requests may be submitted through our online portal at www.municipalanimalservices.net (at the bottom of the home page) or by email to [email protected]. Please do NOT use either of these options for EMERGENCIES (bites, sick/injured animal, vicious animal, etc)
