Hello Beautiful District 2 and the wonderful people on Cloverfork. My name is Mark Stewart and I am your Republican Candidate for Magistrate of District 2.
I love this County and my District, these mountains raised me, the people of Cloverfork are my people. I am not running for a paycheck or a title. I am running because I believe in every bone in my body that Harlan County and District 2 deserves better than the bare minimum. Cloverfork deserve a future the people can believe in again. When I say WE I am talking about the Fiscal Court. I want you to remember that while reading this please.
When you put your trust in me, your problem becomes my fight, your worry becomes my responsibility, I will carry these problems like it’s my own family because to me it is.
We need to reclaim our parks for our children. Right now a mom shouldn’t have to scan the ground for needles, burnt aluminum foil, and broken glass, before she can let her children slide or swing. The proper KRS language needs to be on all parks so sexual predators can’t live around where children play. We need to install cameras, fix our walking tracks, bring in new playground equipment in District 2. If someone is using our parks to destroy lives I will personally hand that camera footage over to the sheriff myself. Until the cameras are up, I will walk every park in my District so that mother doesn’t have to. No child should inherit fear in Harlan County.
We need to take our roads back. For too long clogged culverts and ditches means flooding. Dangerous trees could turn into a dangerous bus ride. We will get the water to the river and cut those dangerous trees back. Where our kids play in the streets riding their bicycles we are going to protect them too. We have an issue of speeding cars in Kildav for example. I mentioned it to the Fiscal Court and I was told no speed bumps. Fine, we will put up signs and do everything we can legally to slow that traffic down. A child’s life is worth more than the excuse I got from Dan.
We end the disrespect in District 2. illegal dumping sends a message that nobody cares about District 2, well I do. Solutions to this can be placing large dumpsters where they are needed. The county should pick up all garbage even large items on your regular trash day all year long. Not just one County Wide Spring Clean Up that costs the Fiscal Court around $15,000 to do it. We have to keep an eye on those dump sites. Using trail cameras could assist with catching the dumper. If you dump you clean it up, and face the judge. A clean District is a Proud Beautiful District
We must honor your tax dollars. I’m going to create a general fund for my District. This general fund will help with projects, bring in playground equipment, I also plan to buy an outdoor projector and screen, have a movie night at the park for the kids. Every meeting, every project, every dollar I use will be online for the people of Cloverfork to witness. Sunlight is the best disinfectant and it will be coming to the Courthouse with me.
We must build a reason to stay, I am tired of watching our kids move away to get a good paying job. I want your grandkids building their lives here in Harlan County. With Boone’s Ridge fixing to open, tourism is fixing to boom in Harlan County Kentucky. We will get these tourists into our restaurants, cabins, into our off road park, on our zip lines, and this is an opportunity for you citizens to invest in yourself. We have Evarts High School being transformed into Hope High. We are expanding the Cloverfork clinic and Evarts has a new bank coming. Evarts is the birthplace of tourism adventure and it’s slowly growing. I want to see the small businesses in District 2 succeed. I want the people of Cloverfork to be able to open up their own business if that’s their dream. We need to work with CSX and the rails to trails program, retain the land, build an ATV road connecting Evarts to Harlan.
We must finish the fight for clean drinking water. What amazes me that Kentucky has more water than any state in the connecting 48 states. The ONLY state that has more water than Kentucky is Alaska, but so many citizens have trouble keeping clean drinking water in their homes. I took a class yesterday so I can test our waterways I encourage everyone who is concerned about water to take the class it’s free. When the water crisis hit and the people of Cloverfork went 14 days without water. I didn’t wait or ask for permission, I went to work for you the citizens on Cloverfork. I seen the gap of the lack of transparency and communication between our citizens and our local government. I closed the gap with this YouTube channel ( https://www.youtube.com/-EVARTS ) we stayed informed together, we advocated together, we won together. Now we have a second water tank being built next to the existing one. We have a new water plant scheduled to be built, new water lines are going in McCoy street and a new road built after the lines are installed. I will not stop until every tap in District 2 is flowing with clean beautiful drinking water like you citizens deserve.
I have been a maintenance man for around 10 years now. I am a hard working family man who has always put my family first. When you elect me you become my family and I will never quit working hard for you all. On May 19th don’t settle for the bare minimum. Don’t look back 4 years from now and see how nothing changed until it got close to the next election. Cast your ballot on May 19th for number 5 on the District 2 Magistrate race. Now I understand that you doubt me and I understand that. All I can say is that if you don’t believe me everything is documented and on YouTube, and it’s free to watch.
Thank you for everyone who read all this. That means you’re not certain about who you are going to vote for, or you’re already voting for me and just wanted to see what I had to say. If you are an undecided voter just ask me what have I done before I filed to be your Magistrate. It’s all documented on my channel
