Hartman Arboretum

Hartman Arboretum A place where people can be close to nature and enjoy a diversity of trees and shrubs.

Many of the trees and shrubs seen at the Hartman Arboretum are native to Southern Indiana, Southern Illinois and Western Kentucky, also know as the Shawnee Hills area. New plant varieties that are not common to this area can also be observed. We have a thriving wildlife garden that attracts thousands of butterflies. Late summer or early fall are the best times to see the butterflies in full array.

This is our American Yellowwood ‘Perkins Pink’ and is also beautiful in bloom right now! Yellowwood is one of the rarest native trees in North America, and this cultivar is extra special and uncommon because of its pink-tinted blooms instead of the usual white. It’s a lovely tree!
