Meet the HOPE staff: four people, approximately 17 job titles, and not a single normal workday between us.
From left to right:
Josh, our Executive Director. He’s technically in charge, but he’d be nothing without the rest of us—and we make sure he remembers that daily. His primary responsibilities include having big ideas and then acting surprised when Nikki tells him those ideas cost money.
Chioka, our Housing Director. She would prefer not to work at all, but since retirement hasn’t magically appeared in her bank account, she continues showing up for us. She’s the most empathetic person in the office, but fortunately, she is not a pushover. She can tell you exactly why you’re wrong so calmly and reasonably that you’ll end up thanking her for it.
Nikki, our Director of Relational and Financial Development—which is a professional way of saying she’s in everybody’s business and controls the purse strings. She tells Josh when he can spend money, schedules meetings around pickleball, and somehow considers “knowing a person who can help” a complete project-management system.
And Tony, our Housing Counselor—although “Dream Maker” is probably more accurate. Everyone likes him best because he regularly makes us write checks for up to $15,000 to help people buy homes. It’s easy to be the favorite when you’re giving away money Nikki worked so hard to tell Josh he couldn’t spend.
Together, we’re helping people achieve stable housing, strengthening our community, and proving that a slightly dysfunctional work family can still get a whole lot done. 💚
