Home Dedication #647 🏡

Yesterday we celebrated Sherricka and the incredible journey she has taken to become a homeowner. Through determination and hard work, she completed her sweat equity hours, classes, and every step along the way with the support of her family and friends. Her story is one of perseverance and triumph. We are so proud to have been able to partner with her!

This home was sponsored by UCC/DOC, and it marks the 29th home they have faithfully supported with Habitat for Humanity of Evansville. We are so grateful for their action oriented faith and their continued commitment to building homes, communities, and hope.

Several members of the Core Crew joined us for the dedication, and Ron shared that moments like these recharge his battery and inspire him to keep building. What a powerful reminder of why this work matters.

We were honored to welcome Chemo Buddies to the Survivors and Supporters Build today. 💙

As one of the first sponsor groups to volunteer, they helped install the floor system for a future Habitat home, taking an important step toward safe, affordable homeownership for a local family.

The Survivors and Supporters Build is a special partnership between Habitat for Humanity of Evansville and Cancer Pathways Midwest. This build brings together cancer survivors, supporters, and community partners to help a local family achieve strength, stability, and self-reliance through homeownership.

Today, Habitat’s Young Professionals of Evansville rolled up their sleeves and got to work in our Volunteer Center. Through service, teamwork, and a shared purpose, they are helping us build homes, communities, and hope. Every hour given brings families in our community closer to a safe place to call home.

HYPE is also a group that meets regularly and welcomes others who want to get involved, serve, and connect. We are so grateful for their commitment to making a difference right here in Evansville.

Tom is one of the volunteers who helps keep our Habitat properties looking their best.

Right now, with some of our mowing crew unavailable, Tom is handling more than 100 lawns on his own.

We are proud to celebrate De’Angelo, our 2026 Perseverance Award winner and Habitat for Humanity of Evansville homeowner.

De’Angelo’s journey to homeownership reflects what is possible when determination meets partnership. While working as a registered nurse at Ascension St. Vincent and completing his degree at the University of Evansville, he stayed committed to the Habitat program and to building a stable future.

“It’s about never giving up,” De’Angelo shares. “Keep going until you see the end of that road.”

From learning financial skills to building alongside volunteers who became friends, De’Angelo’s story reminds us why we do this work. We are honored to have him as part of our Habitat family and grateful to walk this journey together.
