Meals On Wheels of Evansville Meals on Wheels started in 1965 after an outreach program at the First Presbyterian Church determined there was a need.

Meals on Wheels' mission is to provide good nutrition to the elderly, the sick, and the mentally and physically handicapped of our community and also to provide a social contact with the client. With volunteers from the Trinity United Methodist Church and a car from the Red Cross, four meals were delivered that first day. In 1967, the Medical Auxiliay, (now the Vanderburgh Medical Alliance) began to support the program with both finances and volunteers. Today we are operating five routes, delivering approximately 110 meals each day. The need continues to exist for service to the homebound of our community.
