On Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 10:00 am central, Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial is partnering with local historians and authors, Josh Claybourn and Bill Bartelt, for a special program: Abraham Lincoln, the Declaration of Independence, and the Making of an American Statesman. This program explores how the ideas of the Declaration of Independence shaped Abraham Lincoln, and how Lincoln, in turn, reshaped the nation's understanding of the Declaration. Through two complementary presentations and a guided walking tour, the program connects Lincoln's political thought to the intellectual world and the physical landscape of his Indiana youth.
